Aecon Utilities is a leading North American utility infrastructure provider with a strong track record of delivering safe, reliable, and innovative solutions across electrical, telecommunications, pipeline, and renewable energy markets.\nWorking under the direction of Journeyperson Power Line Technicians and Forepersons, the 3rd Year Apprentice Power Line Technician (PLT) will play an active role in the construction, maintenance, and repair of transmission and distribution power systems. This position is designed for apprentices who have developed foundational technical skills and are ready to take on increased responsibility while progressing toward Journeyperson certification.\n\nDuration of role : 6 months with a possibility of extension.\nLocation: Manitoba\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nPerform transmission and distribution construction, maintenance, and repair activities under the direction of Journeyperson PLTs and Forepersons\nAssist with the installation and maintenance of poles, structures, conductors, transformers, and associated utility equipment\nOperate hand tools, power tools, line trucks, and utility equipment in a safe and efficient manner\nRead and interpret drawings, work packages, construction specifications, and utility standards\nParticipate in energized and de-energized work activities in accordance with approved work procedures and apprenticeship requirements\nSupport troubleshooting and outage restoration activities during planned and emergency work\nComplete inspections, maintenance activities, and documentation as required\nParticipate in tailboard meetings, hazard assessments, and safety inspections\nMentor and support junior apprentices while contributing positively to crew performance\nTravel to project sites throughout Manitoba and other locations as required\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nRegistered as a 3rd Year Power Line Technician Apprentice\nSuccessful completion of required apprenticeship training and practical hours to date\nMinimum 2 years of utility, transmission, or distribution field experience\nWorking knowledge of overhead and underground electrical systems and utility construction practices\nAbility to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work instructions\nStrong understanding of safe work practices, hazard identification, and utility safety procedures\nAbility to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate leadership potential\nStrong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills\nAbility to climb poles and structures, work at heights, and perform physically demanding work\nValid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record\nClass 1 or Class 3 Driver's License, or willingness to obtain, considered an asset\nAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditions and travel to remote project locations\nAecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
