In the Caribbean region, we are leveraging our expertise and collaborative approach to deliver world-class infrastructure projects tailored to meet the unique needs of the island communities.\nWe are looking for Civil Engineer, Intern. At Aecon International, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to streamline project costs and mitigate risks, all while maintaining high standards of quality and adhering to building regulations. This opportunity is available for a work term of up to 12 months.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nReceives on-the-job assignments and tasks assigned include: preparation of simple plans, designs, calculations, costs and bills of material in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings, or other specifications. May carry out routine technical surveys or inspections and prepare reports.\nSupports the monitoring of project costs, materials supply quantities, and scheduling for specific project(s).\nAssists in the interpretation of plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors or craft supervision, using a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques.\nManage project-specific materials and equipment purchases including sourcing, maintaining vendor relations, ordering and tracking deliveries, and receiving and processing invoices.\nAssist with bids and proposals for new work.\nAct as a project liaison between the client, subcontractors, and project team.\nGenerate requests for design changes, clarifications, and technical/engineering issues by preparing RFIs and NCRs with clients/subcontractors using existing systems.\nParticipate in setting up the cost code structure of the project (i.e., accounting codes).\nParticipate in setting up project information and cost codes.\nParticipate in coordinating the work between estimating and site by:\nDefining/reviewing the site requirements/expectations from estimating.\nReviewing the estimate structure/breakdown with the project estimating lead before uploading the estimate.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nCurrently enrolled in a degree programme in Civil Engineering or a related field.\nAbility to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.\nKnowledge of contract language, terms and conditions, bonding, etc.\nKnowledge of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting/reporting principles is an asset.\nSelf-motivated with excellent organizational skills.\nExcellent communication skills, both oral and written.\nAbility to work accurately and effectively under pressure.\nCapability to work both independently and within a team environment.\nValid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.\nAecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
