With more than a century of experience and a full suite of integrated services, Aecon is a trusted partner for delivering complex civil projects, including tunnels, transit expansions, airports, ports, highways, and large-scale site development.\nReporting to the Subcontracts Manager, the Contracts Administrator will support the commercial and contract management of some major projects in civil.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nWork with project delivery team to manage commercial/contractual issues.\nChange management, including schedule interpretation and claims administration.\nMaintain contractor filing system and administer project contracts; such as, project agreement, contracts, consultancy agreements, and purchase agreements.\nMaintain the Change Order Log and subcontract trackers so they feed Project Controls’ cost forecast.\nEnsure all contract deliverables and timelines are met while providing leadership to ensure commercial risk on project contracts are minimized.\nTake part in the drafting, review and negotiation phases of various downstream agreements.\nSupport Procurement team with subcontract negotiations and drafting. Chair and document progress review meetings with individual contractors to monitor contractor performance and deliverables.\nExercise proper judgment to engage with Aecon’s legal advisors to seek advice at the appropriate times.\nSupport risk management implementation and mitigation plans to help identify potential risks for the project.\nProactively analyze the risks associated with projects in the bid phase.\nCommercial and contract management of project close out/post practical completion, including defect liability period and O&M.\nCoordination of contract deliverables with other functions (e.g. Construction, Project Controls, Finance, etc.).\nManage performance security for contractors (Performance bonding, letters of credit and contractor parental guarantees).\nEnsure compliance of overall procurement plans and Subcon SOP for procurement coordinators and specialists.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\n3-5 years’ experience working for a contractor on a large-scale project.\nLegal, Engineering or Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent preferred\nKnowledge of construction law, Ontario Construction Act, negotiating and drafting construction contracts.\nKnowledge of project operations, policies, procedures, and strategic direction.\nCareer progression from quantity surveyor would be an advantage\nMinimum of 3 years commercial/contract management experience on major projects working with different partners throughout the project lifecycle from bid to contract closeout.\nUnderstanding of construction planning, scheduling and management.\nExperience dealing with labor obligations and their impact on the Project.\nProficiency using Microsoft office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and SAP (Procure to pay)\nStrong decision-making ability and negotiation skills\nReason for Vacancy: New\nThe expected pay range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000 per year.\nIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
