With more than a century of experience and a full suite of integrated services, Aecon is a trusted partner for delivering complex civil projects, including tunnels, transit expansions, airports, ports, highways, and large scale site development.\nReporting to the EHS Manager, the EHS Advisor will be responsible for actively promoting a health, safety and environmental culture to all levels of employees with the policies and procedures of Aecon’s Health, Safety and Environmental Manual.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nFacilitate employee health and safety orientation, and site-specific safety orientation to workers, owners and clients.\nTraining supervisors and staff on Aecon Health, Safety and Environmental Manual.\nTraining employees in traffic protection, traffic control person, WHMIS, respiratory protection, emergency response.\nCoordinate training such as WHMIS, First Aid, Propane etc.\nConduct workplace inspections and audits.\nConduct behavioral observation in the workplace.\nUpdate Material Safety Data Sheets as required.\nDevelop workplace plans - such as emergency evacuations, fire emergency, traffic controls, fall protection.\nDistribution of safety material supplies and equipment.\nSafety presentations to clients.\nPromoting the Aecon safety system to potential industry clients.\nParticipate as a management member of Joint Health and Safety Committees.\nConduct studies and analyze accident trends.\nInspects project facilities and recommends corrective actions.\nCo-ordinate activities of site-safety coordinators.\nWorking with the Claims Administrator assists with workers compensation claims and associated activities.\nDevelop return to work and modified work programs.\nAccident/Incident investigations.\nMediate health and safety issues for resolution.\nLiaise with Government agencies. Prepare and assist with external safety audits.\nCoordination of environmental issues.\nGather and provide statistical information to estimating for tender packages.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nMinimum 4 years’ experience in the civil construction industry in a Health and Safety role.\nNational Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) and/or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification is considered an asset.\nStrong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for Ontario.\nStrong knowledge of the WSIB.\nStrong knowledge of other Regulations, e.g. WHMIS, Asbestos in Construction, Designated Substances, Smoking in the Workplace.\nSelf-motivated with excellent organizational skills.\nAbility to work accurately under pressure.\nAbility to work with limited supervision and to be proactive.\nAdaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.\nAbility to work with others as a team.\nValid driver’s license.\nTravel to different locations as required.\nReason for Vacancy: New\nThe expected pay range for this role is $75,000 - $95,000 per year.\nIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
