The joint venture is underway to complete the retube, feeder, and boiler replacement (RFBR) of Units 5-8. Building on the successful delivery of the Darlington Refurbishment Project, the CanAtom team brings proven experience in safely executing complex nuclear projects on time and on budget to support Ontario’s clean energy future.\nThe Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager, reporting to the EHS Director, will be responsible for managing a team of EHS Advisors that will be engaged in the development, implementation, and auditing of the Safety Program for the Projects.\nWhat You’ll Do Here:\nProvide leadership, direction, and guidance to the EHS department and line management in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS management systems and processes.\nOversee and develop Employee environment, health and safety orientation and Site-specific environment, health and safety orientation to workers, owners, and clients.\nMentor supervisors and staff on Aecon Health, Safety and Environmental Manual.\nEnsure that such critical systems to the EHS Management System, such as FMEA, JHA’s, JARR cards, BBO’s, Inspections, and audits are completed as required on the projects.\nEnsure effective risk mitigation plans are in place such as environmental management, emergency preparedness/response plans, communication plans, etc. are continuously developed, maintained, and implemented properly.\nOversee, monitor, conduct and facilitate behavioral observation in the workplace.\nDevelop and facilitate EHS presentations to clients.\nParticipate in the Joint Health and Safety Committees.\nEnsure accidents/incidents are recognized and investigated in a timely/valued manner by providing leadership and direction in all facets of training, reporting, investigation, and analysis.\nProvide measures of loss and risk management improvement through accident/incident trend analysis to support annual performance targets.\nEnsure workplace risks and hazards are identified and effective mitigation strategies are developed and implemented.\nInspects project facilities and recommends corrective actions.\nWork with the Environmental representative to ensure environmental risks are identified and addressed in the Environment Management Plan and the plan is executed accordingly.\nEnsure environmental incidents and accidents are identified, reported, investigated and corrective actions are appropriately implemented.\nResponsible for preparing pre-qualifications for potential clients.\nResponsible for the implementation of our Sub - Contractor pre-qualification program and the pre-qualification of Sub-Contractors.\nMake recommendations on environment and safety products for the workplace.\nLiaise with Government agencies.\nRepresent the Joint Venture at meetings with stakeholders and other organizations on issues regarding workplace health and safety matters.\nPrepare reports and deliver presentations to Project leadership and clients.\nRecruit and hire EHS Advisors.\nProvide supervision and leadership to EHS Advisors including day to day task assignment, overseeing work to ensure timely completion and meeting expectations for quality.\nWork with Direct Reports to develop individual career development plans.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nMinimum 5 years’ experience coordinating and managing health and safety for construction projects.\nPrevious experience in a leadership role required.\nKnowledge of Construction projects with a solid understanding of the Occupation Health and Safety Act (“OHSA”) and other relevant regulations and legislations required.\nCanadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor and National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is required.\nBachelor’s degree in related field preferred.\nExperience in nuclear considered an asset.\nUnderstanding of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board System (WSIB) and return to work program.\nIntermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).\nAbility to communicate with tact and diplomacy, excellent verbal, and written communication skills.\nBe a champion of inclusion and diversity\nBackground in Training, Education and/or experience delivering EHS Training programs to individuals and groups is considered an asset\nExceptional organizational and time management skills.\nExcellent meeting and training facilitation.\nAdaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment.\nDue to the nature of work conducted by CanAtom, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.\nOur background check process includes a full security check and clearance process as well as reference checks.
