If you’re inspired to make a difference through future-building projects, join our best-in-class team.\nWhat is the Opportunity?\nReporting to the Preconstruction Director, this is an opportunity for an experienced Project Coordinator or Field Engineer to develop their skills in the areas of preconstruction and bid development for large-scale, complex civil infrastructure projects. This position is suited to individuals who have 3 to 5 years of field experience and who would like to transition into an estimating role, or who would like to participate and gain bid experience, and later follow the project to an operations position once the project is awarded and in active construction.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nPursue various projects including a combination of bid-build, design-build and PPP projects ranging from bridges, tunnels, highways to water and wastewater treatment.\nWork with estimate teams on bid preparations.\nFormulate all costs for tender submission including labour, equipment, material, rentals and subcontracts.\nPerform quantity takeoffs and update estimate software with quantities.\nConduct subcontractor and vendor solicitation.\nComplete subcontractor and vendor quote comparisons.\nInsert quotes into estimate software.\nAssist with means and methods for project construction.\nAssist in the design-build process and work with design teams.\nAnalyze documents, drawings, specifications, proposals and addenda in preparation for pricing.\nObtain input from Operations staff as appropriate.\nBe accountable for the accuracy and completeness of tender submissions.\nDrive estimating process and procedure compliance and consistency.\nPerform post-bid and post-project analysis and ensure associated learning and communication takes place.\nAssist with prequalification submissions, RFQs and RFIs as required.\nIncorporate and comply with Aecon’s risk management policies and procedures.\nDrive positive relationships and serve as a key contact with clients, consultants and key subcontractors.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nPost-secondary education in Civil Engineering or Construction Management disciplines, or an acceptable combination of education and previous experience.\nA minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator, ideally in a project engineering or heavy civil construction environment.\nKnowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to the project.\nProficiency in software related to the construction industry (e.g., Primavera scheduling software, AutoCAD, SAP, etc.).\nExcellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.\nFlexibility to work in both field and office environments.\nValid BC driver’s licence.\nThe expected pay range for this role is $72,000 - $90,000 per year.\nIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
