If you’re inspired to make a difference through future-building projects, join our best-in-class team.\nWhat is the Opportunity?\nAecon is seeking a Field Engineer to join the Ladore Dam Spillway Upgrade Project in Campbell River, British Columbia. This site-based position provides an opportunity to play an integral role in the delivery of a major hydroelectric infrastructure project focused on improving the seismic safety, reliability, and long-term operation of the Ladore Dam.\nThe project is being delivered by the Aecon-EBC Ladore General Partnership for BC Hydro and includes seismic upgrades to the existing concrete gravity dam, replacement of the three spillway gates and associated hoist systems, and upgrades to existing protection and control equipment.\nReporting to the Project Manager, the Field Engineer will work closely with Superintendents, project management, subcontractors, and field crews to support the safe and efficient execution of construction activities. The successful candidate will provide technical field support, coordinate construction activities, monitor progress and productivity, and help ensure work is completed in accordance with project drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and schedule.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nProvide technical and field engineering support to construction crews, Superintendents, and project management.\nCoordinate day-to-day construction activities and assist with resolving technical and constructability issues in the field.\nReview drawings, specifications, contracts, and other project documentation to ensure construction activities meet project requirements.\nPerform quantity take-offs, quantity tracking, and productivity analysis to support planning, forecasting, and cost control.\nMonitor construction progress and assist with the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly project reports.\nAssist with project planning, scheduling, look-ahead schedules, and coordination of upcoming work.\nSupport the preparation and review of work plans, procedures, RFIs, change documentation, and other technical submissions.\nCoordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal project teams to support construction activities.\nAssist with the preparation, review, maintenance, and approval of engineering drawings and related documents.\nSupport quality control activities, including inspections, deficiency tracking, documentation, and verification that completed work meets project requirements.\nGather and maintain accurate field information, measurements, quantities, and records.\nAssist with cost tracking, forecasting, and month-end reconciliation activities.\nProvide technical support to field staff, craft workers, and subcontractors.\nSupport the identification and resolution of field issues in collaboration with engineering and construction teams.\nMaintain project files, records, correspondence, and other documentation.\nPromote and support Aecon's safety culture and ensure work is performed in accordance with project health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.\nBuild and maintain positive working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.\nPerform other duties and responsibilities as required to support successful project delivery.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nPost-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline.\nPrevious experience working as a Field Engineer, Project Coordinator, or in a similar project engineering role, preferably within heavy civil, infrastructure, hydroelectric, or related construction environments.\nKnowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and applicable construction standards.\nStrong understanding of field construction activities, quantity tracking, cost control, quality management, and project documentation.\nAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.\nExperience with construction software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, SAP, or similar programs is considered an asset.\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.\nStrong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.\nDemonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.\nAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.\nFlexibility to work primarily in a site and field environment and adapt to project work schedules as required.\nValid BC driver's licence.\nMust be able to successfully complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, as required for the project.\nThe expected pay range for this role is $72,000 - 90,000 per year.\nIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
