As we continue to grow as British Columbia’s leading utility construction provider, we are seeking experienced Equipment Operators to support our civil utility projects in urban environments.\nThis role involves operating heavy equipment on roadways in active city environments, often around live utilities, and includes work on gas distribution systems, hydro duct banks, and district energy infrastructure.\nKey Responsibilities\nSafely operate heavy equipment such as excavators, and back hoes\nPerform precision trenching and excavation around live utilities\nInstall and work around shoring systems to ensure trench safety\nSupport installation of underground utility infrastructure, including:\nGas distribution lines\nHydro duct banks\nDistrict energy systems\nAssist with site preparation, material handling, and cleanup\nWork collaboratively with labourers and spotters to maintain safety and efficiency\nConduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.\nRequirements and Experience\nMinimum 3-5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in civil or utility construction\nProven experience working around live utilities and in roadway environments\nFamiliarity with shoring systems, trench boxes, and confined space protocols\nExperience with gas, hydro, and district energy utility installations is a strong asset\nAbility to read grade plans and use grade stakes\nStrong safety awareness and ability to follow verbal and hand signal directions\nPhysically fit, with the ability to lift up to 25kg and work in all weather conditions\nWillingness to work extended hours and adapt to changing site conditions\nValid driver’s license and clean abstract required\nMUST be fluent in English, both written and verbal.\nProject: WBK Duct Bank\nLocation: West Kelowna BC\nStart date: ASAP\nRate: $37.14 to $45.46 per hour\nOvertime: 2 hours/day\nSchedule: 5x2, Saturdays as required\nCamp: no\nAllowances: no\nAecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
