This site-based position provides an opportunity to play an integral role in the safe and successful execution of complex civil construction activities.\nReporting to the Project Manager, the Field Engineer will work closely with Superintendents, project management, subcontractors, and field crews to provide technical and field engineering support throughout construction. The successful candidate will help ensure work is completed in accordance with project drawings, specifications, engineering standards, quality requirements, schedule, and budget.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nProvide technical and field engineering support to construction crews, Superintendents, and project management.\nMeet regularly with project crews to review construction activities, production schedules, and upcoming work, ensuring materials, equipment, and resources are available to support planned activities.\nCoordinate day-to-day construction activities and assist with resolving technical and constructability issues in the field.\nReview drawings, specifications, shop drawings, contracts, material requirements, and other project documentation to ensure construction activities meet project requirements.\nProvide technical input into work plans, construction sequencing, scheduling, and look-ahead planning.\nIdentify risks related to construction methods, materials, equipment, resources, or sequencing that could impact safety, quality, schedule, or budget.\nPerform quantity take-offs, quantity tracking, productivity analysis, and progress measurements to support planning, forecasting, and cost control.\nMonitor daily construction progress and productivity against project plans, schedules, budgets, and forecasts.\nGather and maintain accurate field information, measurements, quantities, production records, and other project documentation.\nEnsure accurate quantity and cost code information is captured for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities.\nAssist with cost tracking, forecasting, and reconciliation activities in coordination with project management and finance teams.\nCommunicate significant schedule, productivity, or field issues to project leadership and assist with developing practical solutions.\nSupport the preparation and review of work plans, procedures, RFIs, change documentation, permits, and other technical submissions.\nSupport field layout and construction planning in coordination with construction crews, survey, engineering, and project leadership.\nCoordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal project teams to support construction activities and maintain project schedule.\nSupport quality control activities, including inspections, deficiency tracking, documentation, and verification that completed work meets project drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.\nInitiate and maintain required inspection records, certificates, checklists, and other construction and quality documentation.\nAssist with the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly project reports and provide accurate information on progress, quantities, productivity, and field activities.\nProvide technical support to field staff, craft workers, and subcontractors and assist with the identification and resolution of field issues.\nSupport project close-out activities, including deficiencies, turnover documentation, as-built information, and coordination with the project team and client representatives.\nPromote and support Aecon's safety culture and ensure work is performed in accordance with project health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.\nBuild and maintain positive working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.\nPerform other duties and responsibilities as required to support successful project delivery.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nPost-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience.\nMinimum 3-5 years of experience working as a Field Engineer, Project Coordinator, or in a similar project engineering role, preferably within heavy civil, infrastructure, transportation, utilities, or related construction environments.\nKnowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and applicable construction standards.\nStrong understanding of field construction activities, quantity tracking, productivity, cost control, quality management, and project documentation.\nAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and technical documents.\nExperience supporting construction planning, scheduling, field coordination, and subcontractor management.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.\nExperience with construction software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, SAP, or similar programs is considered an asset.\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.\nStrong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.\nDemonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.\nAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.\nFlexibility to work primarily in a site and field
