Gas distribution is the largest segment in the pipeline distribution portfolio, offering network design and construction or rehabilitation services for gas networks across Canada and the United States.\nReporting to the Superintendent, the Foreperson will be responsible for ensuring that the project is completed on schedule in compliance with the contract and job cost estimate, and that all work is completed safely to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship.\nPlease note that this position is unionized, therefore it will be a requirement to join the union upon acceptance.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nResponsible for, or assists the Superintendent in, the overall planning and scheduling to ensure that the project is constructed in a timely and cost-effective manner.\nMonitor the overall progress of the project and take corrective action where necessary.\nCoordinate and monitor the three main functions: Administration, Engineering, and Construction.\nRepresent the Company with the owner.\nEnsure that the Superintendent is advised of all extra work and claims before work has started.\nResponsible for implementing and monitoring the Company’s Safety and Environment Policies and QC Plans.\nFacilitate a safe work culture, be accountable for the safety of the crew, and understand the legal liability of the role; ensuring crew members apply the standards for safe working conditions and are fit for work each day.\nEnsure that all functions and operations on the job follow local legislative requirements.\nDirect and maintain discipline and morale of the project staff.\nEnsure that Company policies and project procedures are adhered to.\nPerform other duties and responsibilities as required.\nEnsure new crew members are oriented to the job.\nAssess competency and capability of tradespersons, evaluate crew capability, and benchmark against others to ensure the crew meets required levels of quality.\nCommunicate the job to and with the crew.\nAssign individual and crew tasks.\nIdentify additional training needs for the crew and advise the Superintendent.\nSet and maintain work standards and outline behavioral expectations to ensure crew morale and productivity.\nPromote, support, and facilitate teamwork and harmony between all construction crews by fostering a positive, visible teamwork attitude among all project crews, regardless of craft makeup.\nPerform physical duties including walking, lifting, and operating equipment.\nUnderstand construction drawings and mark them up as required.\nKeep daily notes and diaries as required.\nUse stairs, ladders, and climb over rough terrain.\nWork long hours per day in inclement weather conditions if required.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nTechnical school background or at least five years of construction experience.\nPrior experience working in gas distribution is an asset, past experience with Enbridge Gas (formerly Dominion) also an asset.\nExperience in Pipeline Distribution work or Telecommunications work.\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills.\nCandidates will be required to complete a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screen.\nThe expected pay for this role is $37.91 USD per hour as per the current Collective Agreement. \nIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
