The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.\nAs part of this project, we are currently looking for a Health & Safety Advisor - Evening Shift to join our team.\nWhat You Will Do:\nAdminister the EHS Program.\nPromote the highest level of safety throughout the project.\nProvide direction and support for managers, supervisors, sub-contractors regarding their responsibilities. \nMaintain a positive and inclusive safety culture.\nEnsure all workplace parties fulfill their responsibilities for the EHS program.\nConduct safety orientation for workers, owners and clients. Participate in “pre-planning” stages of work.\nAssist in the management of worker’s compensation claims.\nConduct workplace safety audits and inspections.\nWalk project site with workers, owners, and other stakeholders safety representatives to assess safety and to address deficiencies.\nConduct hazard assessments and control activities, providing coaching when necessary.\nInvestigate accidents and incidents and produce timely investigation reports.\nExperience You Will Bring:\n5 years’ experience in construction Health and Safety.\nExperience in preparing for COR or ISO 45001 audits\nHealth and safety certification such as National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Gold Seal Certificate (GSC), graduate or undergraduate degree or diploma in related field, or equivalent.\nHave good working knowledge of Occupational Health (OHSA) and Safety legislation and Workers’ Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) policies.\nExperience as a Liaison with external parties such as government inspectors, sub-contractors, and general public.\nExperience co-chairing a Joint Health and Safety Committee. \nExperience presenting project Orientations and Site-Specific Orientations for small and large groups.\nExperience in the preparation and review of policies and procedures.\nAbility to procure and managing safety supplies.\nExperienced in investigating workplace incidents.\nEnsure subcontractors and employees comply with safety standards.\nProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).\nDetailed understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards etc. and their impact on project activities is vital.\nExperience across all stages of a project lifecycle within complex infrastructure project would be desirable\nStrong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential.\nProven experience in priority setting, multitasking, and working with minimal direct supervision. \nAbility to demonstrate initiative, judgment, and act proactively.\nHigh degree of organizational skills.\nAbility to travel to sites and mobile for projects.\nValid G drivers’ license\nAbility to work off business hours, including weekends\nWhy Join Us?\nCompensation: $75,000 - $100,000 annually.
