If you’re inspired to make a difference through future-building projects, join our best-in-class team.\nWhat Is The Opportunity?\nAecon Nuclear currently is undertaking efforts to replace key components at the Darlington and Bruce Power plants as a part of each respective Life Extension Program to allow operation for another 40+ years.\nAecon Nuclear is also currently at the forefront of the next generation of Nuclear Power in Canada by fabricating and constructing the first of a kind SMR facility in Darlington in addition to potential other new build large scale reactors among other exciting nuclear industry efforts across North America and Europe.\nThis position is located in Aecon’s Cambridge office and reports to the Procurement Manager. The Jr. Purchasing Agent is responsible to negotiate and purchase various commodities, equipment, and services for the Aecon’s Cambridge and Brantford fabrication facilities.\nWhat You’ll Do Here:\nPrimary responsibility is the negotiation and procurement of equipment, material & components as well as Nuclear safety related materials & components primarily for use in Nuclear Power Plants in Canada. This may include but not limited to: plate, structural steel, pipe, tubing, fittings, valves, weld consumables, electrical components & supplies, and personal protective wear\nReview of purchase requisitions and related documentation to ensure clarity and completeness with the description of materials, components or equipment, quantity, adherence to quality assurance requirements, proper authorization of funding, delivery requirements, & desired mode of transportation\nPreparation and issuance of Request for Quotation (RFQ’s) to qualified vendors based on Aecon’s Approved Suppliers List (ASL)\nNegotiation or providing assistance with the negotiation of best price, delivery, terms of payment and purchase conditions, tax exemptions, price escalation, and other factors impacting the supply of material or components\nWorking with Aecon Operations personnel and supporting regional offices in obtaining materials required as needed\nSupport estimating team with pricing at the client proposal stage\nEnsuring quality, reliability and responsiveness to operational needs which meet or exceed organizational expectations\nLogistics management including expediting for critical site deliveries\nConduct market-based research to develop new suppliers that would add value to Aecon projects\nAssisting the Procurement Manager to develop and implement detailed strategies for procurement, including cost reduction strategies to meet organizational goals and objectives\nAccountability to ensure our internal clients are serviced beyond normal business hours\nSupplier and job site visits to assist Quality Department\nContinually keep informed about new products and consumer trends\nWhat You Bring To The Team:\n2-5 years experience in the Construction Industry in a procurement role or project coordinator role\nCompletion of Materials and Operations Management Program at the College or University Level an asset\nEnrollment in or completion of National Institute of Supply chain Leadership’s (NISCL) Accreditation Program is preferred Microsoft Office Products\nBasic knowledge of commodity procurement including civil, electrical, mechanical, consumables, tooling and personal protective equipment\nAbility to meet deadlines and manage priorities is critical\nGood Interpersonal skills are essential\nCustomer service oriented\nGood planning, decision making, negotiation and time management skills are essential\nKnowledge of SAP planning system would be an asset\nReason for vacancy: New\nSalary range: $65,000 - $75,000\nIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
