If you’re inspired to make a difference through future-building projects, join our best-in-class team.\nWhat is the Opportunity?\nReporting to the EHS Director, the EHS Manager will play an integral role in the planning, development, and implementation of Aecon’s Environmental, Health and Safety programs across operations in Calgary and Alberta.\nThe EHS Manager will work closely with operational leadership, project management teams, supervisors, and field employees to promote a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and Aecon standards, and support the continuous improvement of EHS performance.\nThis position will support project operations in the Calgary area and may also support future project opportunities throughout Alberta.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nLead the planning and implementation of effective safety management programs.\nProvide site-specific safety training and orientation to workers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.\nDevelop and train supervisors and staff on Aecon’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and programs.\nReview project plans and work activities before work commences to identify and mitigate safety-related risks.\nConduct inspections and audits of active work sites to evaluate conditions and ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety requirements.\nLiaise with external parties such as regulatory authorities, subcontractors, clients, and other stakeholders.\nWork with project management teams and field personnel to develop and implement solutions to safety-related issues.\nWork with management to develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.\nEnsure subcontractors and employees comply with Aecon’s safety standards, policies, and procedures.\nRepresent Aecon at meetings with clients, stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and other organizations regarding workplace health and safety matters.\nLead and support incident reporting and investigations.\nIdentify corrective actions following incidents and support implementation and follow-up.\nSupport claims management and return-to-work initiatives.\nMonitor EHS performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.\nProvide EHS leadership, coaching, and guidance to project teams and operational leaders.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\n10+ years of experience in Environmental, Health and Safety, preferably within the construction or heavy civil infrastructure industry.\nMinimum 5 years of experience coordinating, leading, or managing health and safety programs within construction or infrastructure environments.\nPost-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related discipline.\nCanadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is preferred.\nNational Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation or equivalent safety certification is considered an asset.\n Strong knowledge of Alberta occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.\nExperience developing and delivering EHS training programs to individuals and groups.\nDemonstrated experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, workplace inspections, and safety audits.\nIntermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.\nAbility to communicate with tact and diplomacy, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.\nAbility to work collaboratively with project management, field personnel, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory stakeholders.\nAecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
