From shoring systems to foundation piling of all types; Aecon Foundations brings the Aecon advantage to all of our market sectors and acts as a strong partner from project initiation, design development, field testing and execution.\nReporting to the Director, EHS the Manager, EHS will oversee a team of Advisors while working with the senior management team to ensure continuous improvement and standards for Aecon’s EHSMS are met on site. This role will support our Aecon Foundations division and will sit out of Toronto/Etobicoke,\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nPartner with operational leadership to operationalize and implement corporate EHS strategies, goals, and objectives, supporting clear operational ownership of EHS performance.\nProvides oversight and assurance of the implementation, performance, and effectiveness of Aecon’s EHS Management system and applicable operational EHS management plans, identifying opportunities for learning and continuous improvement.\nBuild, lead, and develop a capable EHS team through recruitment, coaching, mentoring, and ongoing development, fostering a collaborative, learning-focused approach to EHS.\nLead development &/or facilitate various safety training and orientation to workers, supervisors, owners, and clients.\nPartner with operational teams to review planned work, understand how work will be performed, identify significant risks and potential failure points, and strengthen controls before work begins.\nWork collaboratively with operational leadership, supervisors, and workers to understand EHS challenges and develop practical, effective solutions that support safe and successful work.\nIdentify and communicate regulatory, management-system, and risk-related concerns, and partner with operational leadership to develop sustainable actions that address underlying conditions and strengthen the system.\nEngage regularly in field activities to understand how work is performed, identify emerging risks and operational challenges, verify the effectiveness of critical controls, and support compliance with applicable EHS requirements.\nLead and support audits, field assurance activities, incident investigations, and Serious Incident Investigations with a focus on learning, understanding contributing conditions, strengthening controls, and reducing the potential for recurrence.\nCoordinate and support internal and external audits, APEX assessments, and other assurance activities, using findings and insights to support learning, continuous improvement, and effective risk management.\nSupport subcontractor EHS prequalification, onboarding, and performance management, working with operational teams and subcontractor leadership to establish clear expectations and address emerging EHS risks and performance concerns.\nParticipates and/or lead various project / operational safety meetings.\nEnsure EHS performance information is regularly compiled, analyzed, and reviewed with operational leadership to identify trends, emerging risks, opportunities for learning, and areas requiring action.\nLiaise with external parties such as government inspectors, sub-contractors, and public as required.\nRepresent Aecon at meetings with stakeholders and other organizations on issues regarding environmental, health and safety issues.\nProvide visible EHS leadership that promotes learning, effective risk management, worker engagement, and continuous improvement while strengthening the organization's capacity to anticipate and manage risk.\nOther duties as assigned.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nMinimum 8 years’ experience coordinating and/or managing health and safety for heavy civil infrastructure projects.\nPost-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety: bachelor’s degree, community college or equivalent experience in the H&S field, Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or equivalent.\nExperience delivering EHS Training programs to individuals and groups.\nIntermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)\nAbility to communicate with tact and diplomacy, excellent verbal, and written communication skills.\nExceptional organizational and time management skills\nUnderstanding of Workers Compensation and return-to-work programs\nAdaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment\nValid driver’s license with good driving record and the ability to drive to job sites and travel within Canada.\nThe expected pay range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per year.\nIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
