Gas distribution is the largest segment in the pipeline distribution portfolio, offering network design and construction or rehabilitation services for gas networks across Canada and the United States.\nReporting to the Site Supervisor, the Operator will be responsible for all phases of project execution.\nPlease note that this position is unionized, therefore it will be a requirement to join the union upon acceptance.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nAbility to operate all equipment functions independently and safely.\nMove materials and equipment and perform trenching, excavation, grading, and compaction activities.\nCapability to complete safe excavations and trenches, understanding sloping and benching requirements.\nCoordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads, and respond to hand or audio signals from team members.\nInterpret stakes and signage on the land.\nEnsure all reporting requirements are fulfilled.\nWork under stress and with commitment to timelines and deadlines daily.\nAdhere to site-specific rules and regulations.\nProtect and promote the interests of the company in all matters and take actions as required to satisfy such responsibilities.\nAbility to work with minimal supervision.\nMaintain excellent communication between members of the team and clients.\nConstant sitting, driving, and reaching.\nWork extended hours.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nMinimum 3 years of operator experience excavating live utilities.\nExperience in distribution natural gas utility installation.\nValid driver's licence considered an asset.\nAptitude for the mechanical application of truck controls and equipment.\nAbility to operate all heavy equipment functions independently and safely.\nA team player with a safety-conscious attitude.\nPhysical strength and stamina.\nAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with managers, peers, and clients.\nCapacity to work in outdoor weather conditions including, but not limited to, extreme temperatures (heat and cold), rain, sleet, snow, wind, and wet/humid conditions.\nCSTS-2020 Certificate.\nGround Disturbance II (Global or Aztec).\nRegular travel to project sites may be required on occasion.\nCandidates will be required to complete a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screen.\nThe expected pay for this role is $37.91 USD per hour as per the current Collective Agreement. \nIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
