The Purchasing Agent is responsible to negotiate pricing and terms for various commodities, equipment, and services for the OPG ESMSA portfolio.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nPrimary responsibility is to lead and manage the full procurement lifecycle to support the overall success of a project or site.\n\nThe range of activities includes early engagement and demand planning, developing a procurement plan in support of the full project lifecycle, including the tendering process, market solicitation, negotiation, contract award and contract management.\n\nThe position will require procurement of equipment, material & components as well as Nuclear safety related materials & components primarily for use in Nuclear Power Plants in Canada. This may include but not limited to: plate, structural steel, pipe, tubing, fittings, valves, weld consumables, electrical components & supplies, and personal protective wear.\n\nReview of purchase requisitions and related documentation to ensure clarity and completeness with the description of materials, components or equipment,quantity, adherence to quality assurance requirements, proper authorization of funding, delivery requirements, & desired mode of transportation.\n\nPreparation and issuance of standard and quality related Request for Quotation (RFQ’s) to qualified vendors based on Aecon’s Approved Suppliers List (ASL).\n\nConduct market-based research to develop new suppliers that would add value to Aecon projects.\n\nProvide assistance to the Procurement Manager to develop project specific procurement plans or as assigned, take the lead in developing such plans.\n\nNegotiation or assistance with the negotiation for major contracts of best price, delivery, terms of payment and purchase conditions, tax exemptions, price escalation, and other factors impacting the supply of material or components.\n\nAssisting the Procurement Manager to develop and implement detailed strategies for procurement, including cost reduction strategies to meet organizational goals and objectives.\n\nWorking with Aecon Operations personnel and supporting regional offices in obtaining materials required as needed.\n\nSupport estimating team with pricing at tendering stage.\n\nEnsuring quality, reliability and responsiveness to operational needs which meet or exceed organizational expectations.\n\nLogistics management including expediting for critical site deliveries.\n\nAccountability to ensure our internal clients are serviced beyond normal business hours.\n\nEnsure training on the Aecon Quality assurance manual is accurate and up to date.\n\nSupplier and job site visits to assist Quality Department.\n\nContinually keep informed about new products and consumer trends.\n\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\n2-3 years experience in the Nuclear Construction Industry in a procurement role or 5+ years experience in a conventional procurement role.\n\nCompletion of Materials and Operations Management Program at the College or University Level an asset.\n\nEnrollment in or completion of PMAC’s Accreditation Program is preferred Microsoft Office Products.\n\nWorking knowledge of OPG Passport system would be considered an asset.\n\nWorking knowledge of Nuclear Codes & Standards as they relate to procurement activities, These may include but not be limited to: ASME Section III, ASME NCA 4000, ASME NQA-1, CSA N285.0, CSA N286-05, and CSA Z299/N299 Series.\n\nBasic knowledge of other material or component codes and standards would be an asset. These may include but not be limited to: ASME Section II & ASME SECTION III, ASTM, & CSA.\n\nAbility to meet deadlines and manage priorities is critical.\n\nGood Interpersonal skills are essential.\n\nCustomer service oriented.\n\nGood planning, decision making, negotiation and time management skills are essential.\n\nKnowledge of competitive trends & sales techniques.\n\nKnowledge of SAP planning system would be an asset.\n\nOccasional travel to suppliers facilities to participate in source inspections, view operations and discuss improvement opportunities.\n\nTravel to project sites to participate in meetings required.\n\nWork under pressure of tight timelines.\n\nAbility to provide procurement support during non-standard working hours.\n\nDue to the nature of work conducted by Aecon, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.\n\nOur background check process includes a full security check and clearance process as well as reference checks. The security clearance process includes a comprehensive list of previous residences, employment, education and other pertinent information. Those with a valid Bruce Power security clearance are strongly preferred.\n\nReason for vacancy: New\nThe expected pay range for this role is $69,000 - $92,000 per year\nIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
