In the Caribbean region, we are leveraging our expertise and collaborative approach to deliver world-class infrastructure projects tailored to meet the unique needs of the island communities.\nWe are looking for Quantity Surveyor, Intern. At Aecon International, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to streamline project costs and mitigate risks, all while maintaining high standards of quality and adhering to building regulations. This opportunity is available for a work term of up to 12 months.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nAssist with project development and delivery to align with business expectations, schedules, and budgets.\nEvaluate subcontractor quotes.\nReview conditions and qualifications and assist in drafting and negotiating contract types before tender submission.\nEnsure interim applications, including executed works, on-site materials, and subcontractor works, are submitted to the client’s team by the agreed deadline.\nAssess, measure, and recover contract variations.\nCollect records to verify additional payments and defend claims from subcontractors.\nReview, evaluate, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.\nAssist in procuring subcontractors.\nHandle effective dispute resolution.\nProcess payments and issue notices to suppliers and subcontractors, including measuring works and differences to determine final costs and accounts.\nParticipate in weekly financial forecasting, including compiling contract costs.\nPrepare estimates and costs for the work and monitor them during the project.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nCurrently enrolled in a degree programme in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related construction discipline.\nAbility to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.\nKnowledge of contract language, terms and conditions, bonding, etc.\nKnowledge of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting/reporting principles is an asset.\nSelf-motivated with excellent organizational skills.\nExcellent communication skills, both oral and written.\nAbility to work accurately and effectively under pressure.\nCapability to work both independently and within a team environment.\nValid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.\nAecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
