If you’re inspired to make a difference through future-building projects, join our best-in-class team.\nWhat is the Opportunity?\nAs part of an alliance agreement, Aecon has been awarded a contract in an Aecon-led partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the execution phase on the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington, Ontario. In 2025, Aecon began the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.\nJob Summary\nThe STP Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring the Separation & Treatment Plant to efficiently separate solids, oil, and contaminants from wastewater generated during construction and tunnelling activities. The role ensures safe operation, environmental compliance, and continuous plant availability to support site operations.\nKey Responsibilities - Plant Operation\nOperate and monitor separation and treatment units including settling tanks, separators, hydrocyclones, clarifiers, oil-water separators, and chemical dosing systems.\nControl pumps, valves, mixers, and conveyors to maintain steady plant throughput.\nAdjust flow rates, pressures, and dosing to optimize separation efficiency.\nMonitoring & Quality Control\nMonitor inlet and outlet water quality (pH, turbidity, suspended solids, oil content).\nTake routine samples and maintain operational logs.\nEnsure treated water meets discharge or reuse requirements.\nSolids & Waste Handling\nManage sludge, separated solids, and oil waste.\nOperate dewatering units and monitor cake quality.\nCoordinate waste disposal as per environmental regulations.\nHealth, Safety & Environment (HSE)\nFollow all site safety and environmental procedures.\nHandle chemicals safely using proper PPE.\nPrevent spills, overflows, and environmental incidents.\nReporting & Coordination\nReport daily operations, downtime, and issues to the Supervisor.\nCoordinate with TBM, slurry, dewatering, and site teams.\nSupport inspections by the client or authorities.\nReason for vacancy: Evergreen\nPay Range:\nPer the HCAT Collective Agreement:\nEffective May 1, 2025: $51,44/hr\nEffective May 1, 2026: $52.80/hr\nEffective May 1, 2026 $54.39/hr\nWe strongly encourage applicants who identify as Indigenous to apply to work with us on the Darlington New Nuclear Project.
