If you’re inspired to make a difference through future-building projects, join our best-in-class team.\nWhat is the Opportunity?\nReporting to the Preconstruction Manager, the Student Estimator offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting the pursuit and delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects. Working alongside experienced estimators, project managers, and operations teams, you will develop practical estimating skills, contribute to competitive bid submissions, and gain exposure to the full project lifecycle from pre-construction through execution.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nWork alongside Senior Estimators, Estimating Managers, and Estimating Directors to support the development of competitive bids and project pursuit strategies.\nGain exposure to a diverse portfolio of major infrastructure pursuits, including bridges, tunnels, highways, and transit systems.\nSupport the preparation of estimates for a variety of contract delivery models, including Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects.\nPerform quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.\nUpdate estimating software with quantities, pricing information, and subcontractor quotations.\nAssist with the solicitation of subcontractor and supplier pricing for bid submissions.\nAnalyze and compare subcontractor and vendor quotations to support bid evaluations and procurement strategies.\nParticipate in the development of estimate summaries and cost build-ups using estimating software, including Hard Dollar.\nAssist estimating teams with the development of construction means, methods, and execution strategies.\nSupport design-build pursuits by collaborating with engineering and design teams throughout the proposal development process.\nPrepare and validate portions of detailed project estimates under the guidance of experienced estimators.\nParticipate in tender closings and proposal submission activities.\nCollaborate with joint venture partners and external stakeholders to support estimate development on large-scale pursuits.\nAssist with maintaining historical cost databases, bid documentation, and estimating records.\nParticipate in bid review meetings and contribute to risk and opportunity discussions.\nGain exposure to pre-construction planning, project controls, commercial strategy, and project execution considerations.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nCurrently enrolled in a diploma or degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.\nStrong interest in construction estimating, infrastructure projects, and pre-construction services.\nExcellent attention to detail with strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\nStrong organizational and time-management skills.\nAbility to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.\nExperience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, InEight, Hard Dollar, or other estimating software is considered an asset.\nUnderstanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents is considered an asset.\nValid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract is considered an asset.\nThe expected pay range for this role is $23.00 - $25.00 per hour, with eligibility for overtime.\nIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
