As part of our Utilities team, the Substation Supervisor will play a critical role in successfully delivering substation construction projects.\nThis is an evergreen requisition intended to build a pipeline of qualified candidates. Qualified candidates may be contacted as project needs arise.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nEstablish and maintain strong working relationships with client construction and field management teams.\nLead site mobilization and demobilization activities, ensuring efficient startup and closeout of projects.\nInterpret project schedules and manage daily construction activities to meet key milestones and deadlines.\nReview and interpret Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and provide technical guidance to Foremen and crews.\nMentor and support Foremen to drive productivity, safety, and quality outcomes.\nManage on-site Requests for Information (RFIs) and support change order processes.\nMaintain accurate site as-built drawings and documentation.\nCoordinate and manage on-site material procurement, consumables, and logistics.\nOversee labour, equipment, and subcontractors, including performance management and resolution of on-site issues or disputes.\nReview Foremen daily reports to ensure accuracy and proactively address concerns.\nDevelop and deliver weekly construction updates to the project management team, including:Resource allocation\nCompleted and upcoming work\nRisks, delays, and constraints\nMaterial and consumable requirements\n\nCommunicate project risks and site needs to the Construction Manager, including resourcing, site services, and materials.\nUphold Aecon’s safety culture by enforcing safe work practices and ensuring compliance with all safety standards and procedures.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nMinimum 5+ years of substation field experience, including 3+ years in a Foreman or supervisory capacity.\nProven experience in:\nFoundation installation in line with engineered specifications\n\nConduit installation and routing within substation environments\n\nGround grid installation and grounding systems\n\nPrecast trench installation and site integration\n\nCable tray installation for structured cable management\n\nStructural steel installation and alignment\n\nApparatus installation and equipment setting\n\nBus work installation with proper clearances and fit-up\n\nLow-voltage cable installation, termination, and wiring\n\nExperience working in brownfield environments, including protection grounding.\n\nExperience with substation energization and commissioning/start-up activities.\n\nDemonstrated experience in dispute resolution and claims management.\n\nStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.\n\nAbility to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven construction environment.\n\nSafety-first mindset with a commitment to incident-free operations.\n\nStrong technical expertise with the ability to support and guide field teams.\n\nCollaborative and solutions-oriented approach to problem solving.\n\nProven ability to manage priorities, resources, and multiple stakeholders effectively.\n\nAecon fosters belonging within and across our organization.
