If you’re inspired to make a difference through future-building projects, join our best-in-class team.\nWhat is the Opportunity?\nAs part of an alliance agreement, Aecon has been awarded a contract in an Aecon-led partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the execution phase on the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington, Ontario. Beginning in 2025, Aecon will support the construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.\nThe Nuclear Fabrication Robotic Welding Technician will be responsible for the oversight of nuclear fabrication production, continuous improvement of fabrication safety, quality and productivity, and ongoing support of the production staff and operations.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nContribute technical input and development efforts to create and refine production welding activities.\nInvestigate welding technology improvements and refinements.\nOngoing production monitoring and status communications.\nTechnical liaison between production, manufacturing technical experts, and Centre of Excellence departments.\nKeep track of technical issues, resolve them, and prevent future instances.\nProcure, maintain and manage spare parts stock of robotic devices, sensors, tools or other related materials.\nWork with quality inspectors to facilitate robotic inspection activities.\nTroubleshoot all aspects of robotic system operational issues (welding, inspection, repairs).\nSupport fabrication and shop production activities.\nGenerate all required project status reports for internal management and for customers.\nCoordinate with the COE team to support the project team in budget and forecast management during execution to accurately reflect project status.\nAssist in developing, troubleshooting, designing, testing and training with various types of welding processes and pieces of equipment.\nResponsible for training production staff as required.\nProvide technical direction to production staff.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nCollege and/or University degree in Engineering or a related field related to robotics, material handling and welding.\nMinimum 4 years of practical hands-on robotic programming experience is required.\nKnowledge of ASME, CWB or AWS welding codes is an asset.\nStrong background experience programming software systems for robotic, automated and/or mechanized automation/welding systems.\nKnowledgeable with the programming and operation of Fanuc welding systems.\nExperience with production GMAW welding.\nExposure to heavy welding machinery and tooling design and development is an asset.\nStrong understanding of manufacturing plant design and process engineering principles (cycle times, takt times, etc.).\nStrong understanding of value-added and non-value-added operations within a manufacturing facility.\nIntermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.\nOrganizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work site environment.\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).\nAbility to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.\nWillingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge.\nDetail-oriented.\nMust possess a valid G driver's license and have access to a vehicle.\nTakes pride in work to strive for excellence and instill this mindset in others.\nA passion for welding is an asset, specifically heavy multipass welding.\nHave a willingness to mentor and share knowledge.\nPractices a strong safety culture.\nMust have a positive attitude to develop and test new solutions to solve a variety of technical welding issues.\nThe ability to think “out of the box” is an asset.\nHands-on experience with manufacturing tools and welding is an asset.\nFamiliar with welding principles is preferred (basics of arc welding, types of welding, etc.).\nFamiliar with robotics or comparable semi-automated and mechanized machinery is an asset.\nResults-oriented and takes ownership of tasks assigned.\nStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.\nStrong interpersonal and teamwork skills.\nStrong written and oral communication skills.\nWillingness to continuously learn, try new approaches, experiment with new technologies and push the envelope related to welding, manufacturing, machinery and tooling development.\nReason for Vacancy: New\nThe expected pay range for this role is $75,000 - $100,000 per year.\nIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
