This position supports the DoD Space Test Program (STP) Houston office by developing applications for payload testing, ground-support equipment software, and operational ground software used to communicate with, command, and control satellites and hosted payloads. The selected candidate will support multiple projects and coordinate with other software engineers, Command and Data Handling (C&DH) engineers, and operations personnel to accomplish project objectives. This position also contributes to software-development processes, requirements and code documentation, code and design reviews, software deployment, and on-orbit operations.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop software code in accordance with established program software-development processes.\nCreate and maintain clear code and software documentation.\nWork with project teams to develop, analyze, and document software requirements.\nDevelop system architectures that meet project, IT, and IS requirements.\nContribute to the development and improvement of software processes.\nAssist with implementing new software-development tools and best practices.\nParticipate in peer code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.\nSupport project design reviews, including Kickoff, PDR, CDR, and MRR.\nSupport software integration, testing, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting.\nSupport applications used for payload testing, ground-support equipment software, and operational ground systems.\nSupport software deployment and on-orbit operations as required.\nCoordinate with software engineers, C&DH engineers, operations personnel, project leads, and customers across multiple projects.\nParticipate in regular team meetings to provide status updates and coordinate activities with other team members.\nRequired Qualifications\nMust be a U.S. citizen.\nMust be able to complete a government background investigation and obtain a Top-Secret/ SCI clearance\nBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in computer science or a related technical discipline with 5 - 10 years of software-development experience.\nExperience developing software in Windows and Linux environments.\nExperience developing applications using at least one of the following technology stacks: Python with Flask or JavaScript with React or Vue.js.\nAbility to work with limited initial requirements and independently develop solutions that meet project objectives.\nExperience working within an Agile software-development environment.\nExperience executing software-development projects from initial requirements through completion.\nDemonstrated technical problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.\nExperience using Git and GitLab or comparable source-control and software-development platforms.\nStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment where collaboration and communication are essential.\nMotivated self-starter who is willing to take initiative.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with project managers, project leads, customers, and contract personnel.\nAbility to establish and maintain productive, cooperative relationships with customers and contract personnel.\nMature professional judgment when establishing objectives, milestones, and priorities.\nReliable and dependable work habits with a commitment to completing assigned work.\nAbility and willingness to travel occasionally.\nDesired Qualifications\nExperience with hardware and software integration.\nExperience with memory-safe programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, C#, Go, Ruby, or Rust\nExperience interfacing with SQL databases.\nExperience configuring continuous integration and continuous delivery or deployment pipelines.\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.\nCompensation:\n$85,000-$105,000 annually\nThe salary range provided is a general guideline.
