This individual will be a part of a design team focused on development of the state-of-the-art Electronic Warfare systems. This includes all levels and facets of design from conceptual clear through the detailed design and will include building and testing of these systems.Supports the company’s mechanical research and development efforts.\n\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nDesigns complex mechanical systems.\nPrepares complete project design documentation.\nDesigns and conduct experiments and analyzes and interprets data.\nAssigns tasks to and direct engineers, technicians and administrative staff.\nPlans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work.\nPrepares scopes, budgets and schedules for assignment.\nAssists with proposals to obtain funding for engineering projects or programs.\nSpecifies, designs, analyzes, simulates, prototypes, builds, tests, documents, and releases to manufacturing required mechanical systems.\nOrganizes, plans, tracks, and resolves design problems associated with product performance in engineering, manufacturing, and the field.\nProvides assistance with system level architectural design as well as the development of specifications, schedules, and test plans related to product development activities and product upgrades.\nInterfaces with appropriate departments to ensure design specifications meet or exceed all applicable regulatory standards.\nDevelops product performance testing; incorporates required design changes to address problem resolution.\nInterfaces with outside vendors as required.\nInteracts and collaborates effectively with internal and external team members to assure needs of the company are met.\nPossibility of up to 25% traveling.\nPerforms other related duties as assigned by management.\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.\n6+ years related experience.\nCommitment to excellence and high standards.\nExcellent written and oral communication skills.\nStrong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.\nAbility to manage priorities and workflow.\nVersatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.\nAcute attention to detail.\nDemonstrated ability to plan and organize projects.\nProficient with Solidworks or Creo.\nExperience with thermal modelling.\nExperience designing for lightest weight and best thermal performance.\nExperience with Solidworks Flow Simulator.\nExperience with Finite Element Stress Analysis.\nProven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.\nGood judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.\nCreative, flexible, and innovative team player.\nWorking knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method.\nWorking knowledge and understanding of the basic principles, theories, concepts, and practices in the applicable area of engineering/technical specialization.\nAbility to obtain US Security clearance.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:\nFrequently required to stand.\nFrequently required to walk.\nFrequently required to sit.\nOccasionally required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.\nFrequently required to talk or hear.\nContinually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.\nOccasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds.\nClearance Level\nNo ClearanceThe salary range for this role is:\n$91,000 - $138,750AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.\nITAR Requirement:\nThis position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”).
