Our program is highly selective, hosting only a handful of interns each year, ensuring personalized attention and ample opportunitiesto work closely with AV team members.\nWe are hiring for various roles and locations throughout the U.S. During the interview process, we will discuss specific details regardingthe team and location.\nPosition Responsibilities\nAssistin the design of mechanical components and systems, including airframes, payload enclosures, ground equipment, launch systems, and electro-mechanical assemblies\n\nCreate and modify3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks\n\nSupport simulation and analysis tasks using tools like SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS\n\nParticipate in prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing using in-house tools and rapid prototyping methods (e.g., 3D printing)\n\nHelp generate technical drawings and bills of materials in accordance withindustry drafting standards\n\nCollaborate with engineers to support design reviews, testing activities, and integration of mechanical systems\n\nContribute to documentation and reporting of design progress and test results\n\nLearn and assistin configuration control and engineering change processes\n\nPerform other tasks as assigned to support ongoing development efforts\n\nBasic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field\n\nBasic experience with 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks)\n\nFamiliarity with mechanical components such as machined parts, sheet metal, plastic parts, or composite materials\n\nExposure to hands-on prototyping, lab testing, or mechanical assembly through academic or personal projects\n\nStrong communicationand organizational skills\n\nEagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative environment\n\nPreferred Qualifications & Competencies\nFamiliarity with SolidWorks EPDM or other Product Data Management (PDM) systems\n\nExposure to ASME Y14.5 GD&Tstandards and engineering drawing practices\n\nInterest or experience in designing test fixtures or tooling\n\nBasic understanding of structural dynamics or thermodynamics in mechanical design\n\nDemonstrated problem-solving ability and attention to detail\n\nSelf-motivated, proactive, and eager to take initiative\n\nTeam player who values collaboration and continuous improvement\n\nPhysical Demands\nAbility to work in an office and light R&D lab environment (Constant)\n\nRequired to sit or stand for extended periods; use hands and fingers to operatea computer or tools (Frequent)\n\nClearance Level\nNo ClearanceThe salary range for this role is:\nAeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.\nITAR Requirement:\nThis position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”).
