AV is continually innovating to preserve these advantages.\nThe Platform Software Engineer will implement low level Linux OS software working directly with hardware prototypes and associated lab test equipment. The successful will utilize their Linux/Unix C code and scripting language experience to implement and verify software algorithms.\nPosition Responsibilities\nImplement low level Linux OS software working closely with hardware prototypes.\n\nImplement and verify basic software algorithms.\n\nPerform basic code design tasks.\n\nCreate efficient code, working closely with other team members.\n\nTake ownership of moderately complex tasks and drive them to completion.\n\nUnderstand and execute test strategies to deliver quality software.\n\nDesign, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code.\n\nEnsure the best possible performance, quality, and maintainability of code.\n\nIdentify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.\n\nPerforms other related duties as assigned by management.\n\nBasic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)\nBachelor's Degree (BS/CE or BS/CS) from four-year college or university, and 2 - 10+ years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\nComputer skills required: (Text Editor; Command-Line source code Compiler; Code Development Software; Microsoft Office Suite.\n\nGood knowledge of C.\n\nFamiliar with multithreaded environments.\n\nAbility to develop software targeting Linux environment (not just using a Linux environment for development).\n\nNetworking experience at the programming level.\n\nFamiliarity with chip level busses (I2C, SPI, etc.)\n\nAny ARM development experience - Raspberry PI, TI OMAP, etc.\n\nAny scripting experience - Python, AWK, Lua, Shell, etc.\n\nSource Code Control\n\nAbility to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance.\n\nOther Qualifications & Desired Competencies\nAdvanced degree is preferred.\n\nDeveloping professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.\n\nDemonstrates effectivelistening, questioning, clarifying and summarizing skills to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings.\n\nDemonstrates understanding of system design that one is working on and understands the role that assigned tasks play in the system.\n\nAble to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties.\n\nDisplays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives.\n\nTakes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products.\n\nIs committed to learning from mistakes and driven to improve and enhance performance of oneself, others, and the company.\n\nHas effective problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.\n\nFocuses on teamwork, collaboration and puts the success of the team above one's own interests.\n\nPhysical Demands\nAbility to work in an office environment (Constant)\n\nRequired to stand and sit for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)\n\nThe salary range for this role is:\n$85,000.00 - $145,000.00 annual\nAeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.\nITAR Requirement:\nThis position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”).
