This group assists a team of engineering staff to create and process engineering drawings, Engineering Change Orders, bills of materials, and other related engineering documentation.\nPosition Responsibilities\nAssigns drafting resources to projects or tasks, and reconciles any group resource conflicts\nHelps define scope of work and work estimates for projects\nHelps assure project progress (technical, cost & schedule), resolves technical issues, and escalates when needed\nSupports the Production, Product Engineering, and Configuration Management Groups with processing drawing releases and revisions\nEnsures the integrity and quality of the Group's output by establishing, maintaining, and enforcing Drafting Group standards, processes & procedures\nIdentifies opportunities for improvement in group procedures, and leads initiatives aimed at continual improvement in efficiency & effectiveness of the group\nResponsible for the implementation, maintenance, administration, and training of the engineering product data management system (e.g. SolidWorks EPDM)\nIdentifies new resource requirements, recruits, and interviews & hires new employees. Mentors, develops and trains group personnel. Provides training of group and engineering personnel in drafting and GD&T best practices\nEvaluates staff performance, leads regular performance reviews, defines goals for Group in alignment with corporate goals, communicates areas for improvement/positive enforcement, and provides recommendations for compensation & promotions\nOther duties as assigned\nBasic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)\nHigh School diploma or GED equivalent is required\nMinimum 10+ years of experience in the creation, review, and change management of engineering drawings and other technical documentation\nExperienced in a Team Leadership role\nExperienced in the creation and review of engineering drawings, and in-depth knowledge of ASME Y14.100 Engineering Drawing Practices, Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and other applicable ASME Y14 series standards\nExperienced in the application of aerospace industry configuration management practices\nExperienced with the following types of drawings: machined parts drawings, composite parts drawings, plastic injection molded part drawings, sheet metal fabrication drawings, source control drawings, specification control drawings, printed circuit board fabrication & assembly drawings, wire assembly drawings, schematics, mechanical assembly drawings, and weldment drawings\nOther Qualifications & Desired Competencies\nVocational and/or Associate's degree in relevant discipline is preferred\nSupervisory experience of engineering or drafting personnel preferred\nProficiency in the use of engineering CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) as well as office productivity tools such as MS Office\nExperience with SolidWorks EPDM is preferred\nDemonstrates strong interpersonal, leadership and communication (verbal & written) skills\nUses vision to think beyond the immediate situation, explore multiple potential paths, and adapt decision-making style based on the situational circumstances\nInspires, motivates, and empowers people to deliver organizational goals, while also delivering value back to employees\nBrings organizational values to life using personality, uniqueness and the creation of a shared vision\nChampions the process of change and promotes a culture of quick adaptation while helping others deal with the effects of change\nDemonstrates the ability to develop and maintain internal and external trusting, professional relationships\nAssesses the degree of risk and opportunity in plans or actions and takes appropriate action to mitigate them or makes plans to build on the opportunity\nPhysical Demands\nAbility to work in an office and production environment (Constant)\nRequired to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)\nClearance Level\nNo ClearanceThe salary range for this role is:\n$98,000 - $149,250AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.\nITAR Requirement:\nThis position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”).
