Interns work alongside AV team members on meaningful projects involving cutting-edge technology while developing professional relationships, strategic problem-solving skills, and practical experience in a full-time work environment.\nThis is a 12-week, onsite program intended for highly motivated and passionate students who are currently enrolled in college or are recent graduates. Specific team, location, and program details will be discussed during the interview process.\nSummary\nAV is seeking a Washington Operations Intern to support our government relations and marketing efforts in Arlington, VA. This on-site role involves compiling daily analyses of political news, legislative and regulatory activities, and updates on defense authorization and appropriations. The intern will assist the Legislative Affairs Manager with all congressional activities, helping AV educate and advocate within the federal resource allocation process.\nPosition Responsibilities\nSupport the Legislative Affairs team with content creation, knowledge management, briefing materials, and engagement tracking.\nMonitor and analyze legislative and regulatory activities, including congressional hearings and meetings.\nAssist with planning and preparation for executive engagements in the Washington, DC area.\nAssist with planning and preparation for visits by Members of Congress and staff to AV facilities.\nHelp coordinate the execution of the AV Political Action Committee.\nSupport AV’s legislative affairs strategy to facilitate strategic business growth initiatives, including engagement strategy with Members of Congress, Committees, and other stakeholders to increase support for AV customer programs.\nOther duties as assigned.\nBasic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)\nCurrently pursuing a degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, or related field.\nMaintain at least a 3.0 GPA in current degree program.\nStrong interest in government relations, public policy, and advocacy.\nExcellent research, writing, and analytical skills, as well as attention to detail.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nOther Qualifications & Desired Competencies\nPrevious internship experience, to include interactions with business managers and customers.\nFamiliarity with legislative processes and government organization.\nPhysical Demands\nAbility to work in an office environment (Constant)\nRequired to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)\nSpecial Requirements\nU.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) is required.\nOccasional travel may be required within the Continental U.S.\nClearance Level\nNo ClearanceThe salary range for this role is:\nAeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.\nITAR Requirement:\nThis position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”).
