They install and maintain the protective relay and SCADA systems in IPL’s substations (4kV - 345kV) and power plants. This role works closely with and supports the Relay/SCADA technicians. This role is also responsible for engineering equipment replacement/upgrade projects of limited scope.\nBasic Requirements\nBachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline from an ABET accredited college/university\nTwo (2) to five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering related experience\nTwo (2) to four (4) years of experience in Protective Relaying or SCADA systems on electric utility transmission and distribution systems and at power plants\nPreferred Skills\nRelay setting development experience on both transmission and distribution systems.\nDemonstrated ability to perform relay coordination studies. Experience with short circuit modeling software (i.e. ASPEN OneLiner).\nDemonstrated ability to perform substation RTU/SCADA configurations. Knowledge of DNP3 and ModBus protocols.\nFamiliarity with SEL and GE relays and associated software.\nElectric utility T&D engineering or operations related experience.\nKnowledge of NERC reliability standards (PRC, CIP).\nProfessional Engineering License.\nMust possess a positive attitude and priority for safe and reliable operations.\nKey Responsibilities\nPerform relay setting calculations and coordination studies\nDevelop RTU/SCADA configurations\nEvaluation of relay performance following system events\nOversee commissioning of new SCADA and relay equipment and systems\nInvestigate and resolve protection and control system operation issues\nSupport field staff in construction and maintenance activities\nCreate or revise electrical substation control schemes and wiring diagrams (single-line, three-line, AC/DC schematics, SCADA, relay)\nDevelop new and follow established work practices to ensure a safe work environment\nAES is an Equal Opportunity Employer who is committed to building strength and delivering long-term sustainability through diversity and inclusion.
