Apply now and energize your career with a true leader in global energy. \nUnder general supervision, responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective planning, engineering, design, and construction of overhead electric distribution system projects. This includes customer service projects for commercial and industrial customers, new distribution circuit design, system improvements, facility relocations associated with roadway and public improvement projects, and joint use projects. The position leads and develops a team of engineering assistants while ensuring compliance with company standards, engineering practices, safety requirements, and applicable codes.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead, develop, and supervise a team of engineering assistants, establishing performance expectations and supporting professional growth through coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.\nFoster a safe, positive, and customer-focused work environment that promotes employee engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.\nManage engineering workload and project assignments to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of customer and system improvement projects.\nProvide technical guidance and oversight for the planning, design, and construction of overhead distribution facilities, including system upgrades and public improvement relocations.\nReview and approve engineering work requests, project designs, cost estimates, and construction packages.\nCoordinate and oversee joint use projects and other distribution system initiatives to support internal and external customer requirements.\nDirect technical studies and analyses, including engineering evaluations, economic studies, load assessments, system planning efforts, and long-range infrastructure planning.\nCollaborate with internal departments, customers, contractors, engineering consultants, government agencies, and other utilities regarding facility design, routing, permitting, right-of-way acquisition, scheduling, and project execution.\nDevelop project forecasts, budgets, cash flow estimates, and resource plans to support departmental objectives.\nEncourage innovation, process improvements, and work simplification initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and customer service.\nEnsure compliance with company standards, specifications, material requirements, safety policies, and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).\nPartner with Operations, Line organizations, and other engineering leaders to resolve complex technical and operational issues affecting the electric distribution system.\nMaintain effective communication with leadership and stakeholders regarding project status, risks, priorities, and strategic initiatives.\nPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in engineering.\nFour (4) to nine (9) years of relevant utility engineering experience.\nExperience with electric utility distribution engineering, design, and construction.\nKnowledge of overhead distribution design, system planning, and joint use processes.\nDemonstrated leadership, supervisory, or team leadership experience.\nStrong communication, project management, and customer service skills.\nAbility to effectively manage multiple priorities and resources.\nTeam-oriented with a positive, results-driven attitude.\nPreferred Qualifications\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license.\nWorking knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).\nExperience with the following software, tools, and applications:GTech or DDS\nO-Calc\nSAG10\nSPANS\nAutoCAD\nSAP\nMicrosoft Office Suite\n\nAES is an Equal Opportunity Employer who is committed to building strength and delivering long-term sustainability through diversity and inclusion.
