The AESO strives to foster an inclusive, diverse and equitable workplace where people feel respected and welcomed for who they are, together we deliver high performance and innovative results.\nJob Description\nReporting to the Team Lead, Business Analysts, we are seeking a motivated Business Analyst with relevant experience or interest in the electrical utility sector to become an integrated member of the AESO team.\nIn this role, you'll work closely with business and technology stakeholders to understand needs, document clear requirements, support solution delivery, and contribute to AESO's business analysis practice. You'll play an important role in the design, configuration, and delivery of sustainable, best-fit solutions that enable business value across the organization.\nWhat You'll Do\nSupport business analysis activities across AESO initiatives while building knowledge of the organization, its processes, and systems.\nGather, document, validate, and maintain business, stakeholder, functional, and non-functional requirements.\nAssist with analysis of business processes, systems, and data, including documenting current-state and future-state workflows.\nFacilitate or support stakeholder interviews, workshops, and working sessions.\nCollaborate with business, technology, vendor, and cross-functional teams to clarify needs, identify issues, and support solution decisions.\nSupport solution design, testing, implementation, and adoption by preparing analysis deliverables and assisting with issue resolution.\nApply established business analysis tools, templates, and techniques, while contributing to consistent business analysis practices.\nIdentify and communicate requirements gaps, dependencies, assumptions, risks, and decisions in a timely manner.\nParticipate in agile team activities and pursue ongoing learning in AESO operations, the electrical utility sector, and business analysis practices.\nWhat You’ll Bring\nDegree or Diploma in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.\nMinimum of 3 years of experience in business analysis or a related role, with experience in the electrical utility industry.\nPractical experience gathering and documenting requirements, mapping processes, conducting analysis, and supporting solution delivery.\nWorking knowledge of business analysis techniques, including stakeholder analysis, process modelling, use cases, user stories, acceptance criteria, and requirements traceability.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.\nExperience collaborating with business and technology teams in a project, product, or operational environment.\nProficiency with Microsoft 365 tools.\nExperience with Azure DevOps, Visio, or similar collaboration and modelling tools is considered an asset.\nExperience with Excel and basic data analysis; familiarity with SQL or data visualization tools is an asset.\nKnowledge of the electrical utility sector, electricity markets, regulatory environments, or energy trading is an asset.\nAwareness of change management, agile delivery, testing, and implementation practices is an asset.\nWhat Sets You Apart\nYou enjoy partnering with business and technology stakeholders to solve complex problems and deliver meaningful outcomes.\nYou're naturally curious and ask thoughtful questions to uncover business needs and opportunities for improvement.\nYou can balance multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail and high-quality documentation.\nYou're comfortable identifying gaps, risks, dependencies, and process improvements.\nYou thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy building strong relationships across teams.\nYou're adaptable, eager to learn, and excited to grow your knowledge of the electrical utility sector and business analysis practices.\nWhat We Offer\nThis full-time opportunity offers a competitive salary, paid vacation and flex time, health and dental benefits, mental health support, a defined contribution pension plan, and learning and development opportunities as part of your overall compensation package.
