This 2-year program provides four 6-month rotations through various business units involved in the engineering aspects of AESO’s work, which offers a unique full spectrum view from mandate to meter. Assignments are technical in nature, varied, and will include opportunities to work with experienced engineering professionals and other AESO staff in a variety of cross-functional assignments.\nPossible assignments include:\nAssisting with the preparation of power system models and base cases.\n\nConducting power system power flow, stability and short circuit studies for transmission planning and system operations departments.\n\nAssisting in carrying out power system outage analysis.\n\nAssisting with determination of alternative solutions for identified power system problems.\n\nAssisting in the development of applications for power system real-time operations.\n\nAssisting with the creation of engineering reports to document study results.\n\nAssisting with compliance processes relating to reliability standards and ISO rules.\n\nAssisting with the preparation of information for stakeholder meetings.\n\nAssisting with preparation of project functional specifications.\n\nAssisting with the development of study tools through programming.\n\nPreparing single-line drawings and documentation for estimate requests.\n\nProviding technical support to various departments.\n\nUpon completion of the rotations, final placement will be made to an engineering position and department.\nWe offer a competitive salary.
