Join now!\nJob Summary:\nThe Transmission Electronic Technician fabricates, installs, maintains, troubleshoots, modifies, programs, routes, removes, controls, and repairs communication systems, including Transmission Systems.\nThis is a represented staff position with the IBEW Union. \nDuties/Responsibilities\n Coordinate with other crafts to ensure job completeness and to assist with troubleshooting. \nAssess and restock inventory, refurbish telephones and peripherals, dispose of excess damaged or unrepairable property, and perform inspections of equipment as necessary. \nRead and interpret work orders, drawings, schematics, and notes. \nUsing test equipment, manufacturer manuals, internal documentation, reference and operating procedures, and schematics, troubleshoot and isolate problems at the Line Replacement Unit (LRU) or component level. \nFabrication, installation, problem diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of telecommunication systems and equipment. \nProcess support request requirements for Paging and Operational Intercommunication System (OIS), including cable and equipment fabrication. Including the installation and repair of headsets, cable fabrication, and connector potting. \nPerform software upgrades on sustaining systems. \nInstall, maintain, test, and troubleshoot transmission systems used to transmit analog or digital data signals over copper wire, optical fiber, Ethernet, or other transmission media. \nProvide, update, and maintain all required documentation, reports, and logs, etc., manually or in electronic databases. \nMake recommendations to improve work quality, efficiencies, and productivity. \nAdhere to OSHA, NASA, Company, and customer safety requirements. \nMay assist in training others. \nRequirements\nRequired Minimum Education and Years of Experience:\nAssociate of Science*or Technical Trade School* in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science or related field\n*Experience may be substituted for Education: 1.5 years related experience is equivalent to 1 year of formal education.\nRequired Years of Experience:\nFour (4) years related experience or successful completion of a State or Military approved bona fide work related apprenticeship program recognized by the US Department of of Labor. \n\nRequired Skills, Qualifications, Technical Experience, Certifications, etc.:\n Employees working at this level typically require an understanding of electrical theory, exercising independent judgment in performing circuit diagnostics analysis. \nWorkers must be able to read and have a comprehensive understanding of electronic schematics.\nMust be a U.S. citizen with the ability to pass a NASA background investigation.\nMust be able to pass initial and random drug testing.\nMust have and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.\nPhysical Requirements\nRequires working indoors and outdoors. \nOutdoor conditions may include cold and hot temperatures, high humidity, and windy conditions. \nCertain job assignments require special precautions and/or protective gear or clothing due to potential risk for such sources as moving machinery, chemicals, and electrical hazards, working from special rigging, working from heights, climbing ladders and other work platforms and working in confined and small spaces restricting physical movement. \nOften requires lifting up to 35 - 50 pounds and working on uneven surfaces, and standing for long periods. \nRequires repetitive movement, bending, stooping, twisting, and working in awkward positions. \nIncludes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
