Fairness feels good

Make a real impact at AFCA. Where fairness drives every decision. Help us deliver world-class, independent complaints resolution for Australians. As a not-for-profit and progressive financial ombudsman, we’re championing positive change. Achieving our purpose takes progressive thinking, accountability and resilience. At AFCA, our inclusive leadership values every voice. We offer our people flexible work options, thoughtful benefits and opportunities to deepen expertise. Flourish in a diverse, caring culture. Feel the difference of belonging to an organisation intentionally designed to put people first.

At AFCA, fairness means making sure everyone has the opportunity to be heard and access the support they need.

As our Equity of Access, Program Coordinator, you’ll help keep one of AFCA’s strategic programs organised, connected and moving forward. Working alongside colleagues across program delivery, projects, change and communications, you’ll coordinate meetings, prepare materials, maintain key information and support professional communication with stakeholders.

This is a great opportunity to build practical experience in project coordination, change and stakeholder engagement while contributing to work with a clear social purpose. You don’t need years of experience. We’re looking for someone who is organised, curious, and ready to learn. If you’re passionate about fairness and believe your skills align with this role, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every single criterion.

This is initially a 12- month contract position.

Typically, in this role you will:

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and coordination support across the Equity of Access program.
  • Coordinate program meetings, including committee, governance forum and external Advisory Board meetings.
  • Schedule meetings and manage invitations, calendars and supporting arrangements.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, papers, packs and presentations.
  • Take minutes, update action registers and follow up outstanding actions.
  • Monitor and maintain the program mailbox and calendar.
  • Keep the Equity of Access SharePoint site accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain program registers, contact lists, distribution lists and other administrative records.
  • Work closely with the Program Lead, Project Manager, Change Manager and Senior Communications Advisor to keep program activities moving.
  • Support clear, timely and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage routine tasks, meet agreed timeframes and handle program information confidentially and professionally.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in an administrative, coordination, customer service or office support role is advantageous but not necessary, this is an entry level position.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage routine tasks, follow up actions and meet agreed timeframes.
  • Interest in Project management, Change management or Stakeholder engagement.
  • Confidence using Microsoft 365 tools, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint, or willingness to build capability in these tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, ask questions when guidance is required and maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling programme information.
  • Can do attitude and interest in learning is essential.
  • Gold AWEI Accreditation 2025 - Recognised for LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion.
  • Accredited Family Friendly Workplace - Supporting work-life balance and inclusivity.
  • Hybrid working - Flexible arrangements with two days a week in our modern offices designed for collaboration and wellbeing.
  • Additional and inclusive leave options - Flexible public holidays, gender affirmation leave, women’s health leave, and bonus paid time off over the end of year holiday period.

To apply

If you’re passionate about fairness and believe your skills align with this role, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every single criterion.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, cultures, abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities. If you require any accessibility support during the recruitment process, please reach out to our team at [email protected].

We believe fairness starts with people. That’s why we don’t use AI or automated tools to screen candidates. As a result, our processes may take a little longer, and we thank you for your patience.
