The emphasis will be on using building, CFD, and daylight simulation tools to help inform design, as well as document performance compared to accepted standards. The Building Performance Consultant I will also work to educate clients, architects and engineers on new technologies and innovative solutions.\n\nExpertise of our most successful Building Performance Consultant I: \nBachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or architectural engineering (or another engineering discipline) from an accredited program; or commensurate degree and experience with building systems. \nGeneral understanding of building systems across disciplines and fundamental knowledge in at least one discipline such as HVAC, plumbing/piping, electrical, lighting, instrumentation and controls, or building envelope systems.\nFundamental understanding of major tenets of high-performance design including renewable and alternative energy strategies, daylighting, embodied energy, indoor environmental quality, material composition, water efficiency, life cycle assessment, and built environment planning.\nAbility to use at least one building system simulation tool, including EnergyPlus, IES-VE, TRNSYS, DOE-2 (eQuest), TRACE, CFD, or Radiance, for consulting and analysis.\nExperience in computer operation for building system analysis and engineering calculation programs.\nAbility to learn CAD/BIM software as necessary for building performance analysis and consulting.\nEffective skills to help you flourish:\nIndustry certification applicable to building performance including but not limited to AEE CEM, ASHRAE HPDP, ASHRAE BEMP, ASHRAE BEAP, Green Globes Professional, or LEED AP.\nPassed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (FE).\nKnowledge of or ability to learn application programming language (C++, Ruby, Python, Visual Basic, etc.)\nAbility to access BIM Models.\nStrong spoken and written communications skills.\nExcellent organization and time management skills.\nQuick technical comprehension and motivation focused on client outcomes.\nAbility to prioritize multiple tasks.\nEffective working individually and within team
