This role serves as a frontline EHSS leader, working closely with field personnel, supervisors, contractors, customers, and project leadership to identify risks, verify controls, and promote safe work execution.\nThe EHSS Supervisor provides day-to-day site support, coaching, auditing, and compliance oversight while helping drive a proactive safety culture throughout Data Center Operations. The role is highly visible at active data center campuses and serves as a critical link between project teams and EHSS leadership.\nReporting to the EHSS Manager - Data Center Operations, the EHSS Supervisor supports the implementation of EHSS initiatives, assists with incident investigations, monitors compliance, and escalates significant concerns requiring management intervention. The position has authority to stop work when conditions present an imminent risk to personnel, property, critical infrastructure, or business operations.\nScope of Responsibility\nSupport EHSS execution across data center construction, infrastructure deployment, commissioning, network installation, and operational support activities.\nProvide site-based safety leadership and compliance oversight for assigned campuses, projects, programs, or customers.\nServe as a resource and mentor to EHSS Advisors and operational supervisors.\nConduct field audits, inspections, observations, and risk assessments.\nSupport contractor safety management and customer compliance requirements.\nThe position is field-intensive and supports multiple active data center projects and operational environments.\nKey Responsibilities\nField Leadership & Safety Culture\nPromote a proactive, risk-based safety culture throughout Data Center Operations.\nMaintain consistent field presence to observe work activities and provide real-time coaching.\nReinforce AFL's core values, operating principles, and EHSS expectations.\nPartner with site leadership to proactively identify and mitigate workplace hazards.\nEscalate significant EHSS concerns to management while exercising stop-work authority when necessary.\nEHSS Program Execution\nSupport implementation of corporate EHSS policies, procedures, and programs.\nVerify field compliance with AFL standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations.\nParticipate in project planning activities, pre-task discussions, and risk reviews.\nAssist operational leaders in addressing EHSS concerns and corrective actions.\nSupport continuous improvement efforts and best practice sharing across projects and campuses.\n Risk Management & Field Assessments\nConduct site inspections, audits, and field observations.\nAssist with hazard identification and task-specific risk assessments.\nFocus on critical risks including:\nElectrical safety and energized work\nArc flash and shock hazards\nLockout/Tagout (LOTO)\nCritical infrastructure and commissioning activities\nMaterial handling and rigging operations\nMobile equipment and powered industrial trucks\nConfined space entry, where applicable\nSIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations)\nWork at heights\nVerify that critical controls are implemented and functioning effectively.\nSupport management of change processes when work conditions or project scope changes occur.\nContractor Safety Oversight\nSupport contractor onboarding and safety orientation activities.\nMonitor contractor compliance with AFL, customer, and data center safety requirements.\nConduct routine field assessments of contractor work practices.\nWork with project leadership to address deficiencies and corrective actions.\nEscalate recurring or high-risk issues to EHSS and operational leadership.\nIncident Management & Corrective Actions\nRespond to incidents, near misses, and hazard reports as assigned.\nConduct preliminary investigations and gather supporting documentation.\nAssist EHSS leadership with root cause analysis and corrective action development.\nMonitor corrective action completion and effectiveness.\nParticipate in emergency response planning, drills, and preparedness activities.\nCustomer & Regulatory Support\nSupport customer audits, inspections, and EHSS reviews.\nInterface with customer representatives regarding site-specific EHSS requirements.\nAssist with regulatory compliance activities and documentation maintenance.\nEnsure EHSS records and reports are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.\nSupport compliance with customer standards, OSHA regulations, and applicable industry requirements.\nTraining & Employee Development\nDeliver and support EHSS training initiatives for employees and contractors.\nProvide field-based coaching to supervisors, leads, and crews.\nReinforce key safety expectations through toolbox talks, observations, and site engagement.\nMentor EHSS Advisors and assist in developing field safety capabilities.\nPromote critical safety competencies related to electrical work, commissioning activities, and data center operational environments.\nMetrics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement\nTrack and report EHSS performance metrics and leading indicators.\nReview audit results, corrective actions, and compliance trends.\nIdentify opportunities to improve field execution and reduce operational risk.\nProvide recommendations and field insights to EHSS leadership and business operations.\nSupport initiatives focused on preventing high-energy, high-consequence incidents.\nSuccess Measures / KPIs\nReduction in recordable and high-potential incidents\nCompletion and quality of field audits and observations\nTimely corrective action closure\nContractor compliance performance\nTraining and engagement effectiveness\nPositive customer audit and feedback results\nDemonstrated improvement in leading safety indicators\nEffective control and mitigation of critical electrical and commissioning risks\nQualifications\nRequired\nBachelor's degree in EHSS, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).\n5+ years of EHSS experience supporting construction, mission-critical, data center, industrial, utility, or field-based operations.\nStrong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements.\nExperience conducting field inspections, audits, and investigations.\nExperience supporting electrical construction, commissioning, or critical infrastructure activities.\nStrong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.\nAbility to work independently in a fast-paced project environment.\nAbility to travel up to 60% and support off-hours activities as required.\nPreferred\nData center, mission-critical, or critical infrastructure construction experience.\nExperience supporting multiple projects or geographic regions.\nOSHA 30 Certification.\nCHST, ASP, CSP, or equivalent safety certification.\nKnowledge of NFPA 70E, electrical safe work practices, and commissioning processes.\nBilingual capability (Spanish preferred).\nWorking Conditions\nOn-site at customer campuses and project sites.
