This role oversees projects involving backbone fiber deployments, mass fusion splicing, fiber distribution systems, cross-connect installations, network commissioning, and fiber testing within hyperscale, enterprise, and colocation data center environments.\nThe Project Manager coordinates all phases of project delivery, including project planning, customer coordination, material procurement, staffing, construction oversight, reporting, and project closeout. Serving as the primary point of contact for customers, internal teams, subcontractors, and field leadership, this position ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.\nResponsibilities\nProject Execution & Technical Oversight\nManage and oversee large-scale data center fiber infrastructure projects, including backbone fiber installations, conduit systems, fiber distribution frames (FDFs), cross-connects, and mass fusion splicing operations.\nDirect all phases of bulk fiber splicing activities involving ribbon fiber, loose tube fiber, MPO/MTP connectivity, and high-count fiber cable deployments.\nCoordinate and lead multiple fiber splicing crews across hyperscale and enterprise data center campuses.\nEnsure fiber infrastructure installations comply with customer specifications, industry standards, and project quality requirements.\nDevelop and execute project schedules that align engineering, construction, splicing, testing, and commissioning activities.\nInterpret fiber design packages, splice matrices, routing documentation, and as-built drawings.\nLead troubleshooting efforts for fiber connectivity issues, attenuation failures, damaged cable, and commissioning deficiencies.\nPossess strong technical knowledge of:\nRibbon fusion splicing\nSingle-mode and multimode fiber systems\nMPO/MTP connectivity\nFiber distribution systems\nOptical loss budgets\nFiber acceptance testing\nUtilize and interpret data from:\nFusion splicers\nOTDRs\nOptical power meters\nLight sources\nFiber inspection scopes\nFiber characterization testing equipment\nReview splice reports, OTDR traces, and acceptance testing results to ensure customer and project specifications are achieved.\nEnsure all fiber systems are properly commissioned and ready for customer acceptance.\nProject Controls & Documentation\nWork closely with Construction Managers, Engineering Teams, and Customer Representatives to execute major fiber deployment initiatives.\nConduct site walks, pre-construction reviews, quality inspections, and project audits.\nDevelop project schedules, manpower forecasts, and production plans.\nManage procurement and logistics for fiber cable, splice closures, hardware, patch panels, jumpers, and testing equipment.\nTrack project productivity, labor utilization, installation performance, and project costs.\nMaintain project schedules and provide detailed customer reporting.\nEnsure all project documentation is completed accurately, including:\nOTDR Reports\nSplice Records\nFiber Test Data\nTest Results\nRedline Drawings\nAs-Built Documentation\nCloseout Packages\nCustomer & Stakeholder Engagement\nServe as the primary customer interface throughout all phases of project execution.\nLead project kickoff meetings, progress reviews, and customer reporting sessions.\nCoordinate activities with customers, general contractors, engineers, commissioning teams, and data center operations personnel.\nProvide escalation support and resolution of technical or operational issues.\nBuild and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships through exceptional project delivery and communication.\nCollaborate with internal operational leaders to ensure resource alignment and successful project execution.\nSafety & Compliance\nEnsure all work is performed in accordance with company safety policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.\nConduct daily safety meetings, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), toolbox talks, and site-specific safety briefings.\nPromote and enforce company Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards.\nMaintain compliance with customer access, security, and critical infrastructure requirements.\nSupport and drive a culture of safety accountability across all field personnel and subcontractors.\nQualifications\nAssociate degree in Construction Management, Telecommunications, Engineering Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.\nMinimum of five (5) years of experience managing fiber optic construction, splicing, or telecommunications infrastructure projects.\nExtensive knowledge of:\nRibbon fusion splicing\nFiber optic network deployment\nFiber testing and commissioning\nData center fiber infrastructure\nHigh-count backbone cable installations\nExperience supporting hyperscale, cloud, enterprise, or colocation data center projects preferred.\nStrong understanding of fiber network architectures, fiber distribution systems, dark fiber networks, and optical transport infrastructure.\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, splice matrices, and fiber network designs.\nKnowledge of industry standards including TIA, BICSI, NEC, ANSI, and customer-specific data center requirements.\nStrong leadership, organizational, scheduling, and customer service skills.\nPMP, BICSI, RCDD, CFOT, FOA, or related industry certifications preferred.\nMinimum Education\nPreferred Degree or Type\nB.A. or equivalent experience\nBusiness Administration/Engineering\nDisclaimer: This job description does not constitute a “contract” between the employee and the employer.
