AFL is set up to reach a 0.5 million-ton per year capacity for high strength rebars and allied products.\n\nWe are recruiting to fill the position below:\n\nJob Title: Electrical Technician \n\nLocation: Ogijo, Ogun\n\nEmployment Type: Full-time\n\nResponsibilities\n\nElectrical Maintenance:\n\n Perform routine inspection, servicing, and maintenance of electrical equipment in the SMS.\n\n Maintain and troubleshoot electric arc furnaces (EAF), induction furnaces, ladle furnaces (LF), and associated electrical systems, as applicable.\n\n Maintain motors, pumps, fans, blowers, conveyors, gearboxes, and other electrically driven equipment.\n\n Inspect and maintain transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, contactors, relays, and distribution panels.\n\n Check electrical cables, busbars, cable terminations, and earthing systems.\n\n Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance to reduce equipment breakdowns and production interruptions.\n\nElectrical Troubleshooting and Repairs:\n\n Diagnose electrical faults in motors, control circuits, power distribution systems, and automation equipment.\n\n Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems, sensors, limit switches, proximity switches, and industrial instrumentation.\n\n Identify faults in furnace control systems, electrode regulation systems, and hydraulic or pneumatic control circuits.\n\n Use electrical testing instruments such as multimeters, clamp meters, insulation resistance testers, and other diagnostic tools.\n\n Attend emergency breakdowns and restore equipment to safe operating condition as quickly as possible.\n\n Assist in root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring faults.\n\nSteel Melting Shop Equipment Support:\n\n Support the electrical maintenance of SMS equipment, including:\n\n Furnace electrical and control systems.\n\n Ladle transfer cars and charging systems.\n\n Overhead cranes and material-handling equipment.\n\n Continuous casting machine (CCM) electrical drives and control systems.\n\n Cooling water pumps and associated utility systems.\n\n Dust extraction systems, fume extraction fans, and bag filters.\n\n Hydraulic power packs and auxiliary equipment.\n\n Monitor equipment performance and report abnormal operating conditions.\n\n Coordinate with production and mechanical maintenance teams during planned shutdowns and breakdown maintenance.\n\nSafety and Compliance:\n\n Follow all electrical safety procedures and plant safety regulations.\n\n Apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures before working on electrical equipment.\n\n Verify isolation and absence of voltage before commencing electrical work.\n\n Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).\n\n Observe electrical safety requirements when working near high-voltage equipment, hot metal, and furnace operations.\n\n Report unsafe conditions, near misses, electrical hazards, and equipment defects.\n\n Ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards and company procedures.\n\nDocumentation and Reporting:\n\n Record all maintenance activities, breakdown details, and repairs completed.\n\n Maintain electrical inspection checklists and equipment maintenance records.\n\n Report recurring faults, defective components, and spare-parts requirements.\n\n Assist in preparing preventive maintenance schedules.\n\n Update maintenance work orders and equipment history records.\n\n Provide shift handover reports detailing equipment status and pending maintenance work.\n\nQualifications and Experience\n\n National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Industrial Electrical Technology.\n\n Typically, 2–5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a steel plant or heavy manufacturing environment.\n\n Relevant electrical trade certification or apprenticeship training is an advantage.\n\n Experience in a Steel Melting Shop, rolling mill, foundry, or similar heavy industrial facility is preferred.\n\n Knowledge of industrial motors, motor control circuits, electrical protection systems, and troubleshooting techniques.\n\n Experience with PLCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, and industrial automation is an advantage.\n\n Familiarity with high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems,
