As an organization which promotes respect for diversity and team work, we encourage all qualified individuals to apply. Applicants should have a keen interest in the work of the AU and demonstrate the ability to interact with individuals from various cultural backgrounds and beliefs.\nThe program aims to expose participants to the workings of the AU at an early stage of their professional career and strengthen their personal and professional skills. The AU will further gain support from participants who possess adequate knowledge and skills in relevant areas and serve as a potential grooming ground for future African Leaders.\nFocus Area\nIn general, interns assist in providing administrative and technical support for effective implementation of African Union programmes, projects and activities in its below Department/Directorates:\n- Cabinet of the Chairperson\n- Cabinet of the Deputy Chairperson\n- Office of the Director General\n- Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment (ARBE)\n- Economic Development, Trade, Industry, Mining (ETIM)\n- Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (ESTI)\n- Infrastructure and Energy (IE)\n- Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS)\n- Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development (HHS)\n- Human Resources Management (HRM)\n- Operations Support Services\n- Management Information Systems Division\n- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)\n- Conference Management and Publications (CMP)\n- Office for Safety and Security Services\n- Citizens and Diaspora (CIDO)\n- Medical and Health Services\n- Financial Control Unit\n- Office of Strategic Planning and Delivery\n- Office of Internal Oversight (OIO)\n- Quality Assurance and Control\n- Ethics, Integrity and Standards\n- Office of the Secretary to the Commission\n- Office of the Legal Counsel (OLC)\n- Office of Protocol\n- Partnership and Resource Mobilization\n- Women, Gender and Youth (WGY)\n- Information and Communication\n- Peace Fund Secretariat\n- New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD)\nEligibility Requirements\nActively enrolled in at least the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program OR\nMust have obtained a Bachelor’s degree or an advanced/ post graduate (Masters) qualification in a related academic field;\nBe nationals of a Member State of the African Union.\nBe full time students currently enrolled in the final year of their Bachelors or graduate school program.\nBe fluent in at least one of the African Union working languages (Arabic, English, French or Portuguese).\nBe no more than thirty-two (32) years of age at the time of selection.\nPossess the highest standard of moral conduct and integrity.\nHave not been convicted of any serious criminal offence excluding minor traffic offences.\nPrior work experience is not required for the internship positions.\nTerms and Conditions\nThe AU will have no financial obligation towards interns - travel arrangements and cost of accommodation and living expenses will be the responsibility of the interns.\nAU will use reasonable efforts to assist the interns in obtaining their entry and residence visas.\nInterns will not be entitled to any compensation for travel.\nThe internship will be authorized only once for three (3) month renewable one time for any candidate\nInterns are not entitled to medical travel or medical evacuation to and from the internship location at the expenses of the Commission.
