This effort will support the modernization and upgrade of enterprise voice, data, and telecommunications systems across secure environments.\nThis is a hands-on role ideal for candidates with strong structured cabling experience, knowledge of BICSI standards, and expertise installing and maintaining Cat6 copper, fiber optic cabling, and telecommunications infrastructure in mission-critical environments.\nCandidates must live within a commutable distance of Washington, DC to work onsite full time, or be willing to relocate to the Washington, DC area. Work will be completed during nighttime hours.\nResponsibilities Include:\nInstall, terminate, test, label, and troubleshoot Cat6 copper and fiber optic cabling in accordance with BICSI and industry standards using TDR and other certification tools.\nPerform telecommunications infrastructure installations including patch panels, fiber enclosures, racks, cable trays, ladder racks, and related hardware.\nConstruct/repair pathways (tray, ladder rack, sleeves, fire-stopping).\nFamiliar with working in confined spaces.\nSupport campus-wide cabling refresh and modernization efforts across multiple buildings and secure environments.\nRead and interpret telecom drawings, floor plans, wiring schematics, and installation documentation.\nConduct cable routing, dressing, bundling, and labeling following customer standards and best practices.\nSupport cutovers, migrations, telecommunications room buildouts, and MDF/IDF upgrades.\nEnsure all work complies with federal, security, and safety requirements.\nMaintain accurate installation documentation and support inventory tracking.\nCoordinate with engineers, project managers, and government personnel to support project execution and timelines.\nRequired Qualifications:\nActive Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret clearance.\nMinimum 2 years experience working with telecommunications infrastructure.\nExperience installing and supporting structured cabling systems in enterprise or federal environments.\nFamiliar with Cat6 copper and fiber optic cable installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.\nFamiliar with telecommunications rooms, MDFs, and IDFs.\nFamiliar with fiber optic testing equipment and cable certification tools.\nAbility to analyze and create telecom drawings and installation documentation.\nAbility to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work in physically demanding environments.\nStrong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nBICSI Installer 1 or related industry standards.\nFiber optic splicing or FOA certification experience preferred.\nHands-on experience with Cat6 copper and fiber optic cable installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.\nJetted fiber installation experience.\nExperience supporting campus-wide infrastructure modernization or refresh projects.\nExperience supporting secure federal or DoD environments.\nPhysical Demands:\nAbility to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.\nAbility to work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces such as telecommunications rooms, above ceilings, and under raised floors.\nFrequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing throughout the workday.\nAbility to pull and route copper and fiber cabling through ceilings, conduits, and cable pathways.\nAbility to use hand tools, power tools, and cable testing equipment safely and effectively.\nAbility to work in active construction, data center, and secure government environments.\nAbility to travel between buildings or work locations across a campus environment as needed.\nMust be able to comply with all site safety and security requirements.\nThe projected salary range for this position is $60,000+ annually.
