This individual will lead and oversee the design of structured cabling and telecommunications modernization efforts across a secure enterprise environment, ensuring all installations and infrastructure upgrades are executed in accordance with BICSI standards, customer requirements, and industry best practices.\nThe ideal candidate will possess strong leadership experience designing telecommunications infrastructure projects involving copper and fiber optic cabling, telecom room modernization, and large-scale enterprise network environments.\nCandidates should be located within a reasonable commuting distance of the Washington, DC area, or be willing and able to travel to the Washington, DC area as needed (up to approximately 60%).\nResponsibilities Include:\nLead design of structured cabling teams supporting campus-wide telecommunications infrastructure refresh and modernization efforts.\nPlan, coordinate, and supervise installation activities involving copper and fiber optic cabling across multiple facilities and secure environments.\nEnsure all work is performed in compliance with BICSI standards, customer requirements, safety regulations, and industry best practices.\nProvide technical leadership for telecommunications infrastructure design, implementation, and troubleshooting activities.\nOversee MDF and IDF buildouts, cable plant upgrades, rack elevations, patch panel installations, backbone connectivity, and pathway management.\nBuild, edit, and review telecom drawings, floor plans, cable schedules, labeling standards, and installation documentation.\nCoordinate with engineers, project managers, subcontractors, and government stakeholders to support successful project execution.\nManage daily technician activities, project timelines, material coordination, and quality assurance efforts.\nConduct site surveys and provide recommendations for telecommunications infrastructure improvements and modernization strategies.\nSupport testing, certification, and troubleshooting of copper and fiber optic cabling infrastructure.\nEnsure accurate documentation, as-built drawings, inventory tracking, and project reporting are maintained throughout execution.\nAssist with cutovers, migrations, and operational transition activities.\nRequired Skills, Qualifications and Experience\nActive Top Secret clearance.\nActive BICSI RCDD certification.\n8+ years of related working experience.\nExperience leading structured cabling or telecommunications infrastructure teams in enterprise or federal environments.\nStrong knowledge of BICSI standards, telecommunications distribution methods, and structured cabling best practices.\nHands-on experience with copper and fiber optic communications infrastructure installation, testing, and troubleshooting.\nExperience managing/supporting central office, data center, or campus main/intermediate distribution frame MDF/IDF modernization efforts.\nAbility to interpret, edit, and build telecom drawings, schematics, and technical documentation within Visio/AutoCAD or equivalent software.\nStrong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.\nProficiency with cable testing and certification equipment.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience supporting federal or DoD customers in secure environments.\nFiber optic splicing experience or FOA certification.\nOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.\nExperience supporting large-scale infrastructure modernization or technology refresh initiatives.\nFamiliarity with outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) telecommunications infrastructure.\nWork Environment and Physical Demand:\nAbility to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.\nAbility to work in telecommunications rooms, construction areas, above ceilings, under raised floors, and on ladders or lifts as needed.\nFrequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing throughout the workday.\nAbility to travel between multiple buildings or work areas across a campus environment.\nThe projected salary range for this position is $150,000+ annually.
