The Senior Network Engineer Pacific Region provides senior-level engineering and technical leadership for our customer’s enterprise LAN, WLAN, and WAN infrastructure supporting the DoD medical mission throughout the Pacific region. The position is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex network environments while ensuring compliance with DoD and DHA standards. The engineer serves as the regional technical lead, supports network modernization initiatives, develops network standards and documentation, and collaborates with government personnel and technical teams to maintain reliable, secure, and high-performing network operations.\nResponsibilities Include:\nDesign, implement, configure, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, WLAN, and WAN infrastructure supporting Defense Health Agency (DHA) facilities throughout the Pacific region.\nServe as the regional technical lead and primary point of contact for network engineering, configuration management, routing, and communications.\nDiagnosing and resolve complex network issues across all layers of the OSI model using enterprise network management and diagnostic tools.\nInstall, configure, and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless infrastructure, and intrusion detection systems (IDS).\nMonitor network performance, availability, and capacity using tools such as Orion SolarWinds, ARMIS, Ansible, MIBs, and MRTG, implementing improvements to maximize performance and minimize downtime.\nDevelop, maintain, and enforce network architecture standards, technical documentation, policies, procedures, and configuration baselines in accordance with DoD and DHA requirements.\nEvaluate emerging technologies and vendor solutions, providing recommendations for network enhancements, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.\nCoordinate with government personnel, contractors, vendors, and technical teams to plan, deploy, and support enterprise network infrastructure.\nLead the investigation and resolution of complex network incidents and provide technical guidance to Network Specialists and other engineering staff.\nSupport enterprise cybersecurity initiatives by implementing and maintaining secure network architectures and ensuring compliance with applicable security policies and regulations.\nPrepare technical reports, change requests, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other documentation supporting network operations and change management.\nParticipate in network projects, infrastructure upgrades, and other mission-critical initiatives while ensuring minimal disruption to healthcare operations.\nCommunicate project status, network performance, and operational recommendations to government stakeholders and leadership.\nEnsure network services meet availability, reliability, performance, and security requirements in support of the DoD medical mission.\nPerform other related duties and technical assignments as required..\nRequired Skills, Qualifications and Experience:\n5+ years of directly related experience.\nBachelor’s degree in computer sciences, Engineering, technical degree or related discipline, and five years of directly related experience.\nCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are required.\nMust have and maintain a current DoD Secret clearance.\nAdvanced knowledge of enterprise LAN, WLAN, and WAN design, implementation, administration, and troubleshooting.\nExpertise with networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, SNMP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VRRP, RSTP, PPP, and HDLC, with a strong understanding of the OSI model.\nExperience designing, implementing, and supporting complex enterprise network environments using Cisco routing, switching, wireless, firewall, and VPN technologies.\nExperience utilizing enterprise network monitoring, automation, and management tools, including Orion SolarWinds, ARMIS, and Ansible.\nExperience implementing and maintaining enterprise network security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and secure network architectures.\nExperience supporting DoD, DHA, or Military Health System (MHS) enterprise network environments.\nExperience with Windows enterprise networking, Active Directory, and multi-vendor network infrastructures.\nExperience developing technical documentation, network standards, policies, procedures, and change management documentation.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and technical leadership skills, with experience leading complex network modernization and infrastructure initiatives.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with government personnel, healthcare stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional technical teams. Experience with Zero Trust Architecture is preferred.\nLocation:\nThis position is based in Yokosuka, Japan and is primarily performed in an office or government facility supporting enterprise network operations.\nApproximately 50% travel to customer sites or data centers may be required.\nWork Environment and Physical Demand:\nThe role requires prolonged computer use, the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and occasional bending, climbing, or working in telecommunications spaces to install or maintain network equipment.\nParticipation in after-hours maintenance and on-call support may be required.\nThe projected salary range for this position is $125,000+ annually.
