We bring AI to the aggregation, orchestration, and monetization of distributed generation in wholesale and retail power markets, delivering meaningful reliability, economic, and sustainability benefits to commercial, institutional, and industrial energy users, utilities, and grid operators.\nWe move fast, think big, and operate with a lean, high-trust team. Every hire matters here.\nAbout the role\nWhen the grid is stressed, our customers get paid to help. Most run their backup generators; a few simply turn down load. You'll run the projects that make that possible, from the first customer kickoff to go-live, for the sites in your home region.\nLicensed electrical contractors do the installs. You scope the work, direct the contractors, keep everyone informed, and verify the result. It's mostly technical project management, but you'll be onsite regularly and should be comfortable getting hands-on: troubleshooting a controller, swapping a modem, or checking wiring when a site needs it.\nIt's also a ground-floor role. You'll help shape the playbooks, contractor network, and alerting that let us deploy faster every year.\nResponsibilities\nLead each deployment from kickoff to go-live: site survey, scope, contractor scheduling, installation, testing, and handoff.\nRun several projects at once, keeping customers, contractors, utilities, and the AGent team aligned on dates and next steps.\nDirect licensed contractors and review their work against our install standards before sign-off.\nValidate every site before go-live: hardware connected, data flowing to our platform, and a successful test.\nWork with utilities on meter and data access, and build relationships with key utility contacts.\nKeep sites healthy after go-live: respond to hardware and connectivity alerts, coordinate repairs, and track issues to closure.\nTroubleshoot and resolve hardware, wiring, and connectivity issues onsite, hands-on when needed.\nBe the go-to technical contact for customers, and help our sales team scope sites and set realistic timelines.\nImprove our kickoff checklist, install standards, and alert runbook, and feed field lessons back to our engineering team.\nQualifications\nMust Have\nA track record of managing several field projects at the same time, coordinating customers, subcontractors, and internal teams to hit dates. This usually comes from 3-6 years in generator service, project engineering, commissioning, controls, or electrical contracting. Your title matters less than what you delivered.\nClear, proactive communication with customers, in person and in writing. You drive deliverables to done without being chased.\nYou live in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or Wisconsin, have a valid driver's license, and can travel about one week a month (closer to two during each market's peak season).\nComfortable doing hands-on technical work on-site, safely and within your training.\nPreferred\nWorking knowledge of commercial or industrial standby generators and automatic transfer switches (ATS): you can scope a site, read one-line and control wiring diagrams, and spot problems in a contractor's work.\nExperience in demand response, virtual power plants, or energy services.\nExperience with utility metering, meter data, or utility program staff.\nBuilding-controls or telemetry experience (BAS, Modbus, cellular gateways).\nRelationships with electrical contractors or generator service providers in your region.\nA degree is welcome but not required. If you love running technical field projects, apply even if you don't check every box.\nWhat we'll teach you\nHow grid programs and wholesale markets work in MISO and PJM, and what they require from each site.\nGenerator and transfer-switch fundamentals, if they're new to you, through industry courses and hands-on bench time.\nAGent's platform, hardware kit, install standards, and alert workflow.\nYou'll do well here if\nYou catch the detail others miss and fix problems before they spread.\nYou take initiative and don't wait to be told what's next.\nYou like working independently, with a small team a message away.\nYou stay calm and creative when a site visit doesn't go to plan.\nBenefits\nCompetitive base salary, performance bonus, and early-stage equity\n100% employer-paid Health, Dental, and Vision premiums for full-time employees\nTwo health plan options: traditional plan with FSA, or HDHP with company-funded HSA\nBasic Term Life Insurance + voluntary insurance options\nFlexible PTO\nRemote work from your home base, with travel to sites in your region.\nDirect access to the founding team and real ownership of your work from day one\nA front-row seat to the energy transition","description_format":"text","description_chars":4895,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":3,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Life insurance"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-27T06:12:00Z"}],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":4,"expected_fill_days":50,"reasons":["conf:8","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-01T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/agentenergy-field-project-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/agentenergy-field-project-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-02T02:16:36Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":2987,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":2013,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-03T00:00:00Z"}}}
