This is hands-on work on production systems where quality, reliability, and data sensitivity matter. You'll participate in system design decisions and be responsible for shipping code that is clean, maintainable, and ready for client review.\nWhat You'll Do\nOwn projects end to end, from scoping through delivery.\n\nTake part in system design: data models, service boundaries, and how components communicate.\n\nWork closely with the business team on scope and the tech team on architecture.\n\nBuild and maintain web applications using TypeScript, React, and Vite on the frontend.\n\nBuild and maintain Python / FastAPI backends, including APIs, auth, and data models.\n\nWork with PostgreSQL: schema design, complex queries, and versioned migrations.\n\nBuild against event-driven components and message queues (e.g., Kafka): producing, consuming, and handling retries, ordering, and at-least-once semantics.\n\nParticipate in code review and contribute to technical documentation.\n\nRead, run, and fix CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions or similar tools.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\n5+ years building production web applications.\n\nPython — very strong command of the language. This is the core of your daily work.\n\nPostgreSQL & SQL — solid relational experience: schema design, complex queries, migrations. NoSQL-only backgrounds are not a fit; we work exclusively with relational databases.\n\nEvent-driven systems — experience working with message queues (Kafka or similar). You don't need to be a broker expert — but you must know what they are, have built against them, and understand the practical failure modes (retries, idempotency, ordering).\n\nSystem design — you can design a system from requirements: data model, components, communication patterns, and failure modes, without being handed a step-by-step plan.\n\nIndependence and ownership — you are comfortable making decisions and solving problems on your own. When something breaks or is unclear, you dig in and ship a solution rather than waiting for instructions.\n\nAI as leverage, not a crutch — you're welcome (and expected) to use AI tools like Claude to boost your productivity. We're looking for engineers whose judgment comes first: you can design, debug, and defend your decisions on your own, and you treat model output as material to evaluate, not answers to copy.\n\nStrong TypeScript and React experience.\n\nComfortable with Git, Docker, and CI/CD.\n\nClear communication and a strong sense of ownership.
