We are looking for an engineer who can combine strong Angular and TypeScript development skills with expertise in high-performance, low-latency visualization.\nThis role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership. You will define the architecture of reusable image-viewing components, investigate performance bottlenecks and guide development teams in delivering responsive and scalable visualization capabilities.\nWe are also interested in candidates from adjacent domains such as game development, graphics engines, scientific visualization, simulation, computer-aided design or advanced image-editing applications.\nJob Duties & Accountabilities\nDefine and evolve the architecture of high-performance image-viewing and interaction components.\nDesign reusable frontend components that can be integrated across our medical imaging applications.\nContribute hands-on to prototypes, reference implementations and technically complex product development.\nAnalyse and optimize rendering performance, responsiveness, memory consumption and user interaction latency.\nIdentify CPU, GPU, browser and network bottlenecks and translate findings into architectural and implementation improvements.\nEvaluate and select appropriate technologies, frameworks and rendering approaches.\nEstablish technical guidelines for component design, state management, rendering, testing and performance measurement.\nDefine measurable performance targets and ensure that these are validated through automated tests and representative datasets.\nWork closely with software engineers, UX designers, product management and clinical stakeholders to translate workflow requirements into effective technical solutions.\nCollaborate with architects and development teams across locations to ensure alignment with the overall Enterprise Imaging architecture.\nCreate and maintain architecture decisions, technical guidelines and supporting documentation.\nMentor engineers and support teams in solving complex visualization and performance-related challenges.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\nAt least eight years of professional software-development experience, including experience in a senior technical-leadership or architecture role.\nStrong hands-on experience with Angular, TypeScript and modern frontend application architecture.\nExperience designing complex, reusable frontend components or application frameworks.\nDeep understanding of browser behaviour, rendering pipelines, asynchronous processing, state management and frontend performance.\nPractical experience profiling and troubleshooting performance, memory and responsiveness issues.\nStrong understanding of software architecture principles, data structures, algorithms and maintainable API design.\nExperience with automated unit, integration and end-to-end testing.\nAbility to turn ambiguous or complex technical problems into practical designs and implementations.\nExcellent English communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nAbility to influence, mentor and guide engineers across multiple teams without requiring direct managerial responsibility.\nAssets - optional but beneficial\nExperience with WebGL, WebGPU, Canvas, Web Workers, WebAssembly or comparable browser-based rendering technologies.\nExperience developing game engines, rendering engines, simulations, visualization platforms or advanced image-editing applications.\nKnowledge of GPU architecture, CPU/GPU interaction, multithreading, memory management or real-time rendering.\nExperience with OpenGL, Vulkan, DirectX, C++, Unity, Unreal Engine, Three.js, PixiJS or similar technologies.\nExperience working with large image datasets, tiled or streamed images and progressive rendering.\nExperience with medical imaging, DICOM, PACS, diagnostic viewers or healthcare workflows.\nExperience with Java, Spring and cloud-native application development.\nExperience developing software in a regulated environment.\nExperience as a System, Solution or Software Architect in SAFe.\nTechnology environment\nAngular, TypeScript, Java, Spring, Git, Gradle, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Rancher, OpenSearch and Grafana.\nThe minimum salary for this position is 80.000 € p.a.
