From world-class events that last a few weeks to mining operations and remote communities who rely on us for decades.\nWhat you’ll do asAssociate General Counsel- Canada:\nDraft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements with customers and vendors\nCollaborate with sector sales teams to establish clearly defined customer contract needs that are strategically aligned with and help to execute on territory sales plans\nDraft white papers in collaboration with sales team when necessary to obtain corporate approval on legal and commercial risks\nAdvise business units, executive leaders on commercial & legal risks\nDeliver internal training on commercial and risk management principles, ethics, anti-bribery.\nContribute to the development and implementation of risk management policies\nBenchmark and report on commercial trends, contractual liability & exposure, cost recovery/avoidance mechanisms, and other risk management best practices\nUnderstand insurance coverages, exclusions and limitations, as well as how they interact with and meet our contractual obligations.\nEngage and manage outside counsel, audit legal bills, analyze bankruptcy claims, and litigation defense.\nPartner with the HR department in addressing employment and other HR-related issues.\nWork closely with insurer, TPA and broker in managing litigation and insurance claims.\nManage and preserve the company’s intellectual property\nYou are:\nJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school\nA licensed member in good standing of the law society in the province or territory where the attorney will be practicing\nA minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial transactional law, drafting and negotiating simple and complex contracts, preferably in an in-house legal department\nStrong knowledge of contract law, UCC, creditors’ rights & bankruptcy, and regulatory compliance\nAbility to manage multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment\nAbility to handle a high-volume transactional workload\nAbility to succinctly and professionally provide sound legal advice and commercial solutions in a timely manner to all levels of the business\nExcellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills\nOral and written fluency in Québec French (français québécois).\nHere’s what you’ll get:\nCompetitive compensation package\nAnnual bonus program tied to company and individual performance\nNo premium cost medical plan option available \nPaid training programs\nCareer growth opportunities\nSafety-focused culture\nOur people are can-do, positive, resilient and persistent.
