Part of the team building it sits in Honolulu, near the users at USPACOM. Whether the software fits how targeteers actually work gets decided there as much as anywhere.\nYou lead engineering for the Honolulu team. The program's Lead Software Architect, based in the National Capital Region, owns the overall architecture and has final technical authority. You turn that architecture into working software in Honolulu: you make the design calls within it, review code, and keep the Honolulu engineers, the Senior UX Designer, and the Product Manager/Fires SMEs building one product with the team in the National Capital Region.\nThis is a hands-on lead role. The work spans two locations, some integration work waits on government decisions, and everything happens in secure facilities.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nObjective 1: In the first 90 days, get the Honolulu team shipping against the program architecture\nHonolulu engineers build to the same interfaces, data models, and standards as the National Capital Region team, with no local variant.\nDesign decisions made in Honolulu are written down, and the Lead Software Architect rarely has to revisit them.\nCode from both locations integrates without a cleanup sprint.\nObjective 2: Turn what USPACOM users say into technical decisions quickly\nFeedback from operators reaches the backlog with a technical approach and an estimate attached.\nUX designs get built as designed, or the tradeoff is agreed with the designer before code is written.\nQuestions about operational intent go to the Fires SMEs early, so they don't show up later as defects.\nObjective 3: Deliver software that holds up in the government's environment\nReleases from the Honolulu team deploy in the secure environment without late rework.\nEvery recommendation the software produces can be traced to its inputs and logic, so an audit doesn't require new work.\nRecompute is fast enough that operators can change an input and see the updated recommendation inside their own workflow.\nObjective 4: By the end of year one, raise the engineering standard of the Honolulu team\nCode review catches problems before integration, and defects found in government testing decline over time.\nHonolulu engineers make sound design decisions without escalating each one.\nEngineers you helped hire and onboard are productive within their first month.\nWhat You Bring\nMinimum Qualifications\nProven ability to drive progress and create clarity in fast moving, ambiguous environments. Ability to maintain required TS/SCI access.\nPreferred Skills\nYou have led an engineering team building distributed, event-driven, or microservice systems, and stayed hands-on while doing it.\nYou have worked inside an architecture someone else owns and improved it through interface control documents, API contracts, or shared data models.\nYou have built software where outputs had to be explainable and auditable, such as decision support or agent orchestration.\nYou have delivered software into secure or classified DoW environments.\nYou have led engineers alongside designers and domain experts and turned their input into technical decisions.\nExperience with Maven Smart System, USPACOM, or Joint Fires is a plus.\nTechnology: Go, Java, or Python; React and TypeScript; message-driven architecture; MCP and API design.\nWORKING CONDITIONS\nAll work takes place in secure facilities. This position is based in Honolulu with the USPACOM-based development team.\nConditions\nWork is primarily performed in professional office, Government, and technical development environments. This position requires regular on-site collaboration in the San Diego area, including work with Government and development stakeholders at or in support of NIWC-Pacific. Periodic travel may be required to support operational stakeholders and other mission activities. Work may occur in secure facilities with restrictions on personal electronic devices and remote connectivity.\nStrength Demands\nSedentary to light physical demands associated with professional office and technical work environments. Occasional movement or transport of laptops, documents, and other standard work materials may be required.\nPhysical Requirements\nRegular use of computers and standard office equipment; ability to participate in meetings, technical working sessions, and collaborative development activities for extended periods; ability to communicate effectively in person and through approved electronic means; and ability to travel as required.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4918,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":true,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Digital Government","Managed Security","IT Consulting & Digital Transformation","Cloud Consulting & Migration"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-26T16:04:06Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":70,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.695,"p_room":1,"age_days":2,"expected_fill_days":41,"reasons":["conf:3","stale_co","urgency","velocity","win:early","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-10-29T05:49:05Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":200000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/agile-defense-senior-software-architect-technical-lead","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/agile-defense-senior-software-architect-technical-lead.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-29T06:37:18Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":10050,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-30T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":716156},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=716156"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fagile-defense-senior-software-architect-technical-lead"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fagile-defense-senior-software-architect-technical-lead"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fagile-defense-senior-software-architect-technical-lead"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/agile-defense-senior-software-architect-technical-lead\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fagile-defense-senior-software-architect-technical-lead"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3280046}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"agiledefense.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3280046},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
