Information about Agilent is available at www.agilent.com\nThe Role\nBased in Church Stretton, England, this R&D team is part of the Chemistries and Supplies Division (CSD), focusing on developing advanced polymeric and silica particle technologies for chromatography, clinical diagnostics, and pharmaceutical and biopharma applications.\nWe’re seeking an Expert-level R&D Scientist with deep technical expertise in this field to drive innovation, solve complex, high-impact technical challenges, and influence long-term technology strategy across the division.\nKey Responsibilities\nServe as the technical lead to drive innovations across chromatography, diagnostics, and biopharma consumables.\nIndependently initiate, design, and execute complex polymer synthesis, particle manufacture and surface functionalization, applying advanced analytical, materials characterization techniques.\nLead or make significant contributions to major, high-visibility R&D projects. Provide expert guidance to R&D, manufacturing, and cross-functional partners.\nProvide leadership in technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing, ensuring robustness, scalability, cost-effectiveness, and reproducibility of polymer particle processes from lab-scale prototypes to full production.\nAct as an internal consultant and escalation point for solving critical, high-impact product, process, or materials issues that exceed standard R&D or manufacturing capabilities.\nHelp define and influence long-term technology strategies and roadmaps for polymeric or silica particle technologies aligned with CSD and Agilent business objectives.\nPrepare and deliver high-impact technical presentations to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, influencing strategic decisions.\nLead and contribute to intellectual property generation, including invention disclosures and patent applications\nFunction as a technical mentor, trainer, and functional lead, strengthening scientific capability and technical excellence across the organization.\nQualifications\nPh.D. or M.S. degree in Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.\nTypically 8+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated depth and breadth of expertise across polymer/organic synthesis, polymeric particle manufacturing, surface functionalization, and materials characterization techniques.\nWorking knowledge of the chromatography and biopharma applications\nProven track record of solving complex, high-impact technical problems and delivering innovative solutions that advance product performance and business outcomes.\nExtensive experience leading multidisciplinary technical efforts and developing new product or technology strategies.\nStrong communication skills, capable of influencing and translating complex technical concepts into clear, business-relevant insights.\nWhat We Offer\nA senior technical role with significant influence on Agilent’s technology direction and product portfolio\nOutstanding company culture with strong emphasis on innovation, collaboration, and respect\nCareer development opportunities at the highest technical levels\nCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package\nApplication\nWe review applications and conduct interviews on a rolling basis.
