This role ensures that automation platforms, workflow software (LIMS/ELN/LES), liquid handling systems, and integrated customer workflows meet performance, reliability, compliance, and interoperability requirements. This role partners closely with R&D, Product Management, Systems Engineering, Program Management, and external partners to establish a scalable automation quality strategy.\nKey Responsibilities\nQuality Strategy & Leadership\nDefine and execute the APS quality and test strategy across hardware, software, and integrated workflow solutions.\n\nBuild and lead a global quality engineering organization aligned to APS growth priorities.\n\nDrive quality culture, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nDrive shift-left mindset.\n\nAutomation & Continuous Testing\nLead implementation of automated testing capabilities across software and workflow solutions.\n\nDrive continuous integration and continuous test execution practices.\n\nImprove test coverage, release velocity, defect containment, and predictability.\n\nSupport Agile development teams with embedded quality engineering practices.\n\nEcosystem Interoperability\nDefine validation approaches for multi-vendor automation environments.\n\nEnsure products comply with automation readiness standards and interoperability requirements.\n\nValidate integrations with partner instruments, robotics, software platforms, and orchestration layers.\n\nSupport ecosystem partnership programs through qualification and certification\n\nProgram Execution\nPartner with Product Managers and Engineering leaders to establish release quality objectives and success criteria.\n\nProvide executive visibility into product quality, risks, and release readiness.\n\nLead root cause analysis and corrective action activities for significant quality events.\n\nSupport strategic initiatives including automation readiness, orchestration capabilities, and autonomous workflow programs.\n\nRegulatory & Compliance\nEnsure applicable software and automation products comply with relevant regulatory requirements and quality standards, such as CFR 21part 11\n\nDrive validation documentation, audit readiness, and traceability practices.\n\nPartner with Quality and Regulatory organizations on risk-based testing approaches.\n\nQualifications\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Bioengineering, or related discipline.\n\n10+ years of experience in software testing, systems validation, automation engineering, or quality management.\n\n3+ years of leadership experience.\n\nExperience leading global cross-functional teams.\n\nStrong understanding of Agile development methodologies and software development lifecycles.\n\nExperience with test automation frameworks and CI/CD environments.\n\nDemonstrated success driving quality improvements in complex product portfolios.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with laboratory automation, robotics, liquid handling, analytical instrumentation, or scientific software.\n\nExperience validating integrated hardware-software systems.\n\nExperience with risk-based testing of software with high degrees of freedom or complex compatibility matrices.\n\nExperience embedding AI technology in software testing.\n\nKnowledge of cloud platforms, APIs, workflow orchestration, and SaaS applications.\n\nUnderstanding of regulated environments and computerized system validation.\n\nFamiliarity with AI-enabled software products and autonomous workflow systems.\n\nAdditional Details\nThis job has a full time weekly schedule. It includes the option to work remotely. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
