We are responsible for delivering advanced and reliable designs that meet a complex set of requirements to our customers, including software developers, applications engineers, manufacturing engineers and ultimately to fleet deployment managers. We work as a group to develop new technologies, engineer new products, and refine/maintain existing designs. The team is composed of engineers from many backgrounds and levels of experience. \nAbout The Role:\nWe are designing the next generation of Digit Humanoid Robot for commercial scale. Highly reliable and robust designs are critical to successful deployment of our robots in large quantities. Digit works in demanding environments, performing highly repetitive and heavily loaded tasks. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work closely with other mechanical engineers and cross functional teams to develop the next generation Digit. This role will own multiple mechanical and electro-mechanical parts/assemblies and will be responsible for the design, prototyping, and DFx for those parts.\nAbout the work:\nOwn the 3D and 2D design of electromechanical components and subassemblies, including prototyping of parts and subsystems.\nCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, industrial design, software, test, and manufacturing) to define requirements and develop design concepts.\nPerform engineering analyses to validate design decisions, including supporting structural and thermal analyses.\nPresent and participate in cross-functional design reviews of parts and subsystems.\nSupport root cause investigations and implement improvements to enhance Digit robustness.\nContribute to the development and documentation of mechanical engineering processes.\nTrack progress and document design work using Jira and Confluence.\nDeliver quality results within established schedules, budgets, and priorities.\nCreate and maintain comprehensive design documentation.\nMentor and support the development of junior engineers.\nTravel requirement (25% travel to Salem)\nAbout you:\n1-2 years of mechanical design experience\nB.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent, minimum requirement)\nDemonstrated experience in mechanism design, electronics packaging,sensors\nKnowledge of various types of motors, encoders, power transmission, and drive-train-related components such as gears, lead screws, linear guides, harmonic drive actuators, etc. \nProven experience designing and building mechanisms and assemblies, preferably in robotics\nDemonstrated experience in mechanical analysis including modeling tolerance stacks, static and dynamic analysis, FEA and thermal analysis\nAbility to be on-site at Agility’s design facility as needed (minimum 2 days per week and as needed to support design activities, reviews, prototype testing, etc.)\nPreferred Skills and Experience:\nRobotics experience design experience\nAdvanced degree in engineering or science or robotics\nCreo and Windchill experience\nJira/Confluence experience\nPLM and PDM experience\nThis a hybrid position based out of one of our Fremont office.\nThe final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
