We operate as a forward-looking unit, bridging the gap between current capabilities and the future of Digit.\nAs a Senior Robotics Mechanical Engineer, you will be instrumental in bringing these future-facing projects to life. Working alongside veteran roboticists, you will own the prototype lifecycle of new electromechanical subsystems - from initial analysis and CREO design to hands-on assembly and experimental testing.\nYou should be comfortable integrating components like motors, cameras, and encoders, and ready to support \"whatever is needed\" to get a system running-which may include circuit design, wiring, or embedded software depending on your skillset. While our team is nimble, you will collaborate with experts across the entire organization to pull in specialized knowledge as projects evolve from concept to reality.\nAbout the work:\nUtilize CAD software to design durable components that meet specific load, industrial design, manufacturability and lifetime requirements.\nDevelop and build custom test fixtures to assist with component and system validation testing.\nWork closely with cross-functional teams (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Manufacturing) to integrate designs and resolve issues. \nParticipate in design reviews, providing input and incorporating feedback from the team. \nMaintain clear and organized documentation of design iterations, analysis results, and test data.\nInvestigate and troubleshoot mechanical failures or performance issues in existing hardware and implement corrective actions.\nAbout You\nBSME + 5 years relevant industry experience OR MSME +3 years relevant industry experience OR PhD + 1 years relevant industry experience\nExperience in electromechanical system design, including familiarity with mechanisms, actuators, thermal management, sensor/electronics integration, and/or structures.\nPractical fabrication experience and a portfolio of projects (ranging from college competitions to high-tech industry experience - we want to see what you’ve been up to!).\nProficient in mechanical CAD software (PTC Creo preferred)\nProficient at creating mechanical drawings and familiarity with GD&T\nExperience supporting test design, implementation and reporting\nPreferred Skills and Experience:\nCreo/Windchill Experience\nA basic understanding of robotics principles, control systems, or mechatronics.\nFamiliarity with common components in robotic systems, specifically electric motors, motor controllers, gearboxes, encoders, and bearings.\nExperience designing systems that need to meet tight size or weight requirements.\nExperience with basic programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data analysis, engineering calculations, or simple task automation.\nAnticipated Base Salary Range\n$164,000—$213,000 USD\nIn addition to base pay, our competitive total rewards package consists of the following for full-time employees:\n 401(k) Plan: Includes a 6% company match.\nEquity: Company stock options.\nInsurance Coverage: 100% company-paid medical, dental, vision, and short/long-term disability insurance for employees.\nBenefit Start Date: Eligible for benefits on your first day of employment.\n Well-Being Support: Employee Assistance Program (EAP).\nTime Off:Exempt Employees: Flexible, unlimited PTO and 12 company holidays, including a winter shutdown.\nNon-Exempt Employees: 10 vacation days, paid sick leave, and 12 company holidays, including a winter shutdown, annually.\n\nOn-Site Perks: Catered lunches four times a week and a variety of healthy snacks and refreshments at our Salem and Pittsburgh locations.\nParental Leave: Generous paid parental leave programs.\nWork Environment: A culture that supports flexible work arrangements.\nGrowth Opportunities: Professional development and tuition reimbursement programs.\nRelocation Assistance: Provided for eligible roles.\nAnnual Discretionary Bonus: Provided for eligible roles.\nAll of our roles are U.S.-based.
